In the 2023 Yeti Hunt, unlock the outfit by investigating all five clues in the Raton Canyon search area, then returning there between 21:00 and 06:00 in-game time and defeating the Yeti. The outfit can then be selected at a clothing store or in your character’s wardrobe. The guides available for this hunt do not confirm whether it is active or scheduled to return as of October 8, 2026, so check for a current Rockstar event notice before trying to start it.
How to start the Yeti Hunt
Travel toward the Raton Canyon search area, also described in guides as the Chiliad wilderness. When you get close, Tanner is reported to send a text and the game marks a search area on your map. The 2023 walkthroughs from Destructoid and Dot Esports identify this as the hunt’s start trigger.

Investigate all five clues
Search the marked area and interact with each clue. The guides describe these five discoveries:
- A bloodied tent and sleeping bag.
- Clothing near an abandoned car.
- An overturned car.
- Body parts beneath a fallen tree.
- A dead deer near the river.
Exact placements are best followed from the guides’ maps; their written descriptions alone do not establish reliable coordinates. Destructoid reports that each clue pays $10,000 in-game. This is a reward amount reported in its 2023 guide, not an independently verified current payout.

Find and defeat the Yeti at night
Once all five clues have been investigated, remain in or return to the search area between 21:00 and 06:00 in-game time. Dot Esports reports that entering the area during this window triggers the encounter. The guides recommend explosives for the fight. Destructoid’s author says a Homing Rocket Launcher took four direct hits to defeat the Yeti; that is one guide author’s account, not a general weapon test.
Claim the outfit and reward
After the kill, Dot Esports reports that an unlock notification appears. Select the outfit at a clothing store or from your character’s wardrobe. Destructoid also reports a $50,000 in-game reward for defeating the Yeti, which would make $100,000 total when combined with its reported $10,000 payment for each of the five clues.

What is known about the hunt’s current availability
The walkthroughs document the 2023 holiday event, not its status in 2026. Rockstar’s November 30, 2023 update announcement is relevant to that event period, but the available sources do not establish that the hunt is currently live or when it will return. If Tanner’s text and the search area do not appear, check Rockstar’s current event announcements rather than assuming the hunt is available year-round.
