On Windows 11, press C to toggle Hide for the selected character, or Shift+C to toggle Hide for grouped party members. These are the default PC bindings; if they do not work, check the game’s keybinding options. Hiding starts the action, but whether enemies detect you depends on the area and their abilities.
How do I enter stealth mode in BG3 on Windows 11?
- Select the character you want to hide.
- Press C to toggle Hide.
- Watch the character’s surroundings and enemy sight as you move; activating Hide does not guarantee that the character will remain undetected.
The C binding is the default listed by the BG3 Wiki’s options table. If you changed your controls or the key does nothing, look up Hide in the in-game keybinding options.
What key is stealth in BG3?
For an individual character, the default Hide key is C. In BG3, the control toggles the Hide action; it is not a promise of automatic invisibility. Larian’s early-access overview, “A Little About Combat & Stealth”, describes detection in relation to light, obscurity, and enemy darkvision:
- Clear area: always visible.
- Lightly obscured: stealth check.
- Lightly obscured with an enemy that has darkvision: visible.
- Heavily obscured: undetected.
- Heavily obscured with an enemy that has darkvision: stealth check.
This is Larian’s concise rule summary, not a guarantee for every encounter or edge case. If a hidden character is spotted, the binding may still have worked; the game’s visibility rules determine the outcome.

How do I stealth my whole party?
Press Shift+C to toggle group Hide for grouped party members. This is the default PC binding listed in the BG3 Wiki’s options table; check the in-game keybindings if you have changed it. On controllers, the same table lists holding Down on the directional pad for group Hide on PlayStation and Xbox, but those controls are separate from the Windows PC keyboard bindings.
When should you use Hide?
Use Hide when positioning a character unseen or preparing for a possible encounter, especially before moving into an area watched by enemies. Check the lighting and whether nearby enemies have darkvision rather than assuming the action makes the character invisible. Larian describes stealth as one way to prepare for combat, but the result depends on the situation.

Does Windows 11 change the stealth controls?
The cited controls reference lists the PC defaults, while Larian’s update information provides game-patch context rather than Windows 11-specific control behavior. Larian’s April 15, 2025 Patch 8 announcement called Patch 8 the game’s final major content patch; its support page listed Hotfix #36 when checked. These sources do not indicate that the default Hide bindings changed. Your own keybinding settings remain the best check if C or Shift+C does not behave as expected.
