There is no single parental-controls switch inside Among Us. The fix depends on what is restricted: Free Chat is controlled by the game account and, for child accounts, parent or guardian permission; app access may be managed through Google Family Link; and console multiplayer or communication limits live in PlayStation or Xbox family settings. A parent or guardian should change a child’s permissions through the official account and platform settings.
First identify what is being blocked

Change Quick Chat to Free Chat
- Open Among Us and sign in to the game account.
- From the title screen, select Settings (the gear icon), then Data, then Chat Type.
- Choose Free or Quick Chat if it is available. Quick Chat only keeps the account restricted to Quick Chat.
If you cannot change Chat Type, check the account status and permission requirements below. The setting is not an override for account restrictions. See Innersloth’s Free Chat instructions.
Complete the parent permission flow for a child account
A parent or legal guardian must verify the account and grant the relevant permissions; the child cannot remove this restriction from the game settings. Follow the Kids Web Services (KWS) email prompt and verification link, then choose permissions in the Innersloth Parent Portal. Innersloth says permissions can be changed later through that process. Its instructions also note that support cannot grant permission on a parent’s behalf. See Innersloth’s parent or guardian verification guide.
Do not try to solve a locked setting by entering a different age. Innersloth says a submitted age cannot be changed. Free Chat age eligibility varies by country or region; for example, the official age guide lists 13+ for the United States, but that threshold is not universal. Check the current regional list in Innersloth’s age and Free Chat guidance.

Check whether the account is fully signed in or awaiting permission
Innersloth’s account guide uses the menu indicator color to show account state:
- Green: fully verified and logged in.
- Purple: partial login, which can limit the account to Quick Chat Only.
- Cyan: the account is awaiting parental permissions.
If the indicator is purple, follow the sign-in steps in Innersloth’s account creation and login guide. If it is cyan, the parent or guardian should finish the KWS and Parent Portal flow. Contact Innersloth support if the correct account or permission steps do not resolve the status.

If the game itself is blocked on Android
When the restriction concerns opening or installing the game rather than chat, the parent should check Google Family Link and Google Play controls. In Family Link, select the child’s account to manage app access, app limits, and Google Play content restrictions. Google says a parent in the family group must use their Google Account password to set up or change a child’s Google Play parental controls.

If multiplayer or communication is restricted on PlayStation or Xbox
Console family or online privacy settings can restrict communication, multiplayer, or access because of an age setting. Review the settings for the child’s PlayStation or Xbox profile rather than looking for an Among Us toggle. Innersloth’s console age-restriction guidance directs players to the platform’s parental settings.
