Why the puzzle number is different

September 5, 2024 corresponds to Strands #186. The #185 label belongs to the previous day’s puzzle, September 4, whose theme was “American beauty.” The date and number are corroborated by TechRadar, Try Hard Guides, and the September archive. Forbes also reports the official hint, “Going underground,” and the same answer set: Forbes.
