Then open the Drafting Studio’s Build Trading Post panel at Headquarters and pay its listed cost of 1,960, plus 80 lumber and 80 stone.
How to recruit Hogan and unlock the Trading Post
- Go to Twinhorne West. Hogan is found there.
- Start Hogan’s recruitment challenge. He requires 50,000 baqua profit from trading. Profit made before you speak to him does not count toward the challenge.
- Reach the target, then recruit him. Trading means buying goods in one town and selling them in another; differences in local prices determine your profit.
- Build the facility at Headquarters. After Hogan joins, use the Drafting Studio’s Build Trading Post development panel. It lists a cost of 1,960, plus 80 lumber and 80 stone.
A reported workaround for the profit challenge
GameFAQs guide author vreaper’s version 1.0a walkthrough, updated May 22, 2024, recommends buying trade goods before first speaking to Hogan, then selling them after the challenge begins. The guide says its suggested route should clear the threshold, while noting that players have described the profit challenge as slightly bugged. Treat this as a reported workaround, not a guaranteed mechanic or confirmation of the current bug status.

Suggested route for earning 50,000 baqua profit
The walkthrough proposes buying goods in several towns before triggering Hogan’s challenge, then selling them at destinations where the guide observed favorable prices.
Buy before speaking to Hogan
- Ardinale: Carvings, Paintings, Leather Clothes, and Rugs.
- Werne Village: Rugs, Diamonds, Silk, and Tanned Leather.
- Twinhorne East: Foreign Clothes and Rugs.
- Hishahn: Foreign Clothes and Pink Coral.
Sell after starting the challenge
- Ardinale: Diamonds and Foreign Clothes.
- Impershi’arc: Rugs, Carvings, and Tanned Leather.
- Twinhorne East: Paintings and Silk.
- Treefolk Village: Pink Coral.
- Werne Village: Leather Clothes.
The route is an estimate from the walkthrough, not a fixed-price recipe. Town stock and prices fluctuate, so check what is available and compare the in-game buy and sell prices before spending baqua. The guide’s example prices reflect what its author observed, not guaranteed current values.

Building requirements and upgrade details
The Build Trading Post panel identifies Hogan as a requirement and lists its panel upgrade prerequisites as Headquarters level 2→3 and Treasury Capacity 3. Separately, the GameFAQs guide says the Trading Post can be upgraded when Headquarters reaches level 4 to add Specialties. The available descriptions do not fully reconcile these progression details; they do not establish Headquarters level 4 as a requirement to build the initial Trading Post.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the Trading Post does
Trading lets you buy goods in one town and sell them in another, taking advantage of differences in local prices. Because prices and stock change over time, decide what to carry based on the current market rather than relying on a fixed route or old price examples.
