To recruit a friend’s Pawn in Dragon’s Dogma 2, use a Riftstone and select Search for Pawn > Friends’ Pawns. Choose the eligible Pawn and hire it. If it does not appear in the friends list, search using the Pawn ID your friend shares with you. This hires an AI-controlled companion; it does not bring your friend into a co-op session.
How to find and hire a friend’s Pawn
- Check that you are on the same platform. Capcom says Pawns can only be hired by someone playing on the same platform. Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 FAQ applies this rule across platforms.
- Make sure Network Features are enabled. If you started the game offline or online features are unavailable, open Pause Menu > System > Options > Network and turn on Network Features, as Capcom’s FAQ instructs.
- Go to a Riftstone and interact with it to open Pawn recruitment.
- Choose Search for Pawn > Friends’ Pawns, then select and hire your friend’s eligible Pawn. This menu route is reported by Den of Geek’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 guide.
- Use Pawn ID search if needed. If the Pawn is not listed under Friends’ Pawns, ask your friend for its Pawn ID and search using that instead.
Friends’ Pawns or Pawn ID search?
These are two ways to find a Pawn, not different kinds of recruitment. Friends’ Pawns uses the platform friends list; Pawn ID search is useful when your friend gives you the ID directly. Both still require online access and the same-platform restriction.

Why can’t I see my friend’s Pawn?
- Check platform: You and your friend must play on the same platform.
- Check Network Features: Confirm the option is turned on at Pause Menu > System > Options > Network.
- Check for a recent Main Pawn change: Capcom says updated Pawn information is uploaded when the player rests at an inn while connected to the network, and that it may take time to appear. The FAQ does not give an exact refresh time, so an inn rest does not guarantee immediate visibility.
- Try the Pawn ID: If the friend’s Pawn is still missing from the friends-list results, search with the ID they share.
Does summoning a friend’s Pawn mean co-op?
No. Here, “summon” means hiring another player’s AI-controlled Pawn into your party. Dragon’s Dogma 2 does not support online multiplayer; PlayStation describes it as a single-player adventure in which other players’ Pawns can be hired over the internet. See PlayStation’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 page.
