In Roblox’s The Survival Game, you get Obsidian by defeating The Titan in the Volcano cave, then mining the ore nodes that appear in the boss arena. It is not a regular surface-mining resource. The game name is ambiguous, so these steps apply to The Survival Game, not every Roblox survival experience.
How to get Obsidian
- Join a public server. The community Obsidian page says The Titan does not spawn in private servers.
- Travel to the Volcano and find the cave. The Progression Guide locates its entrance at a large skull and says a boulder blocks the way.
- Enter the cave and get through the gate to reach The Titan.
- Defeat The Titan. The fight is described as difficult; the community guide recommends preparing and bringing allies if you are not experienced. That is advice, not a stated game requirement.
- Mine the Obsidian nodes that appear in the arena after the boss is defeated.
Which pickaxe should you bring?
The community Obsidian page lists Bronze, Iron, Steel, Bluesteel, and Darksteel pickaxes as able to mine the nodes. It warns that Bronze and Iron take a very long time, but does not provide reliable timings for comparing tools. Bring a higher-tier pickaxe if available to avoid the especially slow mining noted for the lower tiers.
How much Obsidian will you get?
Community pages give conflicting amounts: the Progression Guide reports 3–6 Obsidian per ore, while the dedicated Obsidian and Titan pages give different figures, including 4–8 per node plus a boss reward. Treat any yield as variable rather than guaranteed and check the amount awarded in your current game.
What is Obsidian used for?
Obsidian is used with Steel and Coal at a Darksteel Forge to make Darksteel, which is used for Darksteel equipment. The community Darksteel page lists the Darksteel Bar recipe as 1 Obsidian, 5 Coal, and 1 Steel.

Game and update caveats
These instructions match Roblox’s The Survival Game, whose Volcano, Titan, and Obsidian mechanics are described on community-maintained Fandom pages. Roblox has other survival games; for example, Operation Aberration is a separate experience and its listing does not establish this method. The community Ore page also describes Obsidian as acquired by beating the Volcano boss rather than as a naturally spawning ore. Boss behavior, server rules, yields, and tool effectiveness can change with updates.
