/give @p minecraft:netherite_chestplate[enchantments={protection:255}]
It gives the nearest player a netherite chestplate with Protection 255. Vanilla Bedrock does not support this Java item-component command; its documented /enchant command allows Protection I–IV.
Give yourself Protection 255 in Java Edition
- Confirm the world is running Java Edition 1.21.5 or later. The square-bracket item-component syntax shown here is the 1.21.5+ form.
- In single-player, enable cheats. On a server, make sure your account has permission to use
/give. - Open chat and enter:
/give @p minecraft:netherite_chestplate[enchantments={protection:255}]
The command targets @p, the nearest player. To give the item to a named player instead, replace @p with that player’s username.

Use a different armor piece
Replace minecraft:netherite_chestplate with another armor item identifier. For example, use minecraft:netherite_helmet, minecraft:netherite_leggings, or minecraft:netherite_boots.
Why older commands may fail
Java item data syntax changed in 1.20.5, and the enchantment component syntax changed again in 1.21.5. Older tutorials may show nested levels:{...} data or brace-delimited NBT syntax; those are not the format to use for this command in 1.21.5 or newer. The current Java syntax and an example are documented in Minecraft Java Edition 1.21 release notes and the current command guide.
What works in Bedrock Edition?
Vanilla Bedrock does not use Java’s item-component syntax. Microsoft’s documented Bedrock /enchant command requires cheats and lists Protection levels I through IV, not 255. See Microsoft’s Bedrock /enchant command reference for its syntax and accepted range.
Bedrock add-ons or external editing may change items or game behavior, but compatibility varies; the cited documentation does not establish one universally compatible add-on or editor for creating Protection 255.

- The classic UNO card game builds fun on game night with a Minecraft theme.
- UNO Minecraft features a deck and storage tin decorated with graphics from the popular video game.
- Players match colors and numbers to the card on top of the discard pile as in the classic game.
- The Creeper card unique to this deck forces other players to draw 3 cards.
- Makes a great gift for kid, teen, adult and family game nights with 2 to 10 players ages 7 years and older, especially Minecraft and video game fans.
Can you get Protection 255 in ordinary survival?
No—not through standard enchanting and anvil combining. Ordinary Minecraft enchanting methods include the enchanting table, librarian villagers, and anvils; the Bedrock command reference documents a maximum of Protection IV for /enchant. For normal survival progression, aim for Protection IV instead. Microsoft’s overview of enchanting in Minecraft describes the standard methods.
Does Protection 255 make you invulnerable?
Not necessarily. Java’s official 1.21 release notes allow an enchantment definition’s max_level to be set as high as 255, but that does not establish that Protection’s damage reduction scales linearly to level 255. The stored enchantment level and its gameplay effect are separate; effects can cap or stop scaling. The Minecraft Help description—“Protection – Reduces most types of damage by 4% for each level.”—describes ordinary Protection and should not be multiplied out to claim a specific reduction at level 255.

- Now Minecraft lovers can play a special version of UNO!
- Same as Basic UNO but features Minecraft characters and includes special Creeper rule card. Draw this card and the other players have to draw three more cards from the pile!
- The goal is to get rid of all the cards in your hand.
- First player or team to 500 wins.
- When you're down to one card, don't forget to yell "UNO"!
Accordingly, the command establishes the displayed enchantment level, not invulnerability or a guaranteed damage-reduction percentage. The official Java release notes discuss enchantment definitions and effects separately: Minecraft Java Edition 1.21. The current syntax guide also cautions that stored level and gameplay effect can diverge: Protection armor command guide.
