Roblox Support says you can add up to 10 items through the Avatar Editor’s Advanced option by entering their Asset IDs. That helps you get past a category’s soft limit—for example, the limit that can stop you from wearing more than three hats. Roblox does not clearly state that 10 is a universal total across every accessory and clothing type.
How to add more than a category’s soft limit
- Open the Avatar Editor and select the category for the item you want to wear.
- If the category’s soft limit prevents you from adding another item, choose Advanced.
- Enter the item’s Asset ID. Roblox says the ID can be found in the item’s link, and that Advanced allows up to 10 items this way. Read Roblox Support’s instructions for the editor steps.
What counts as an accessory?
Roblox groups wearables into several types, so “accessories” does not necessarily mean one shared count for everything on an avatar. The Creator Hub distinguishes makeup, rigid accessories, layered accessories, and classic clothing.
- Rigid accessories attach to a point on the character; hats, weapons, and props are examples.
- Layered accessories are 3D items—such as pants, shirts, and jackets—that fit over the body and existing clothing.
- Classic clothing is a separate clothing type, rather than a rigid accessory.

How the clothing-layer figure differs
In an April 4, 2022 launch announcement, Roblox said users could wear up to six layers of clothing on top of classic clothing. That is a dated statement about layered clothing, not a current, all-category accessory maximum. It should not be added to the Advanced allowance to calculate a combined cap. Roblox also described a plan for up to seven clothing layers in an October 2021 announcement. Because that was a forward-looking launch-era statement, it does not establish today’s limit. See the 2021 announcement.
What the 10-item limit does—and does not—tell you
The practical answer is up to 10 items via Advanced, entered by Asset ID. Roblox Support explains that the option can exceed a category’s soft limit, but does not specify whether those 10 items represent a combined cap across rigid accessories, layered accessories, classic clothing, makeup, and every other wearable category. Treat it as the documented Advanced-editor allowance, not a guaranteed total for every kind of avatar item.
