This is modded behavior, not a verified vanilla Hytale recipe. For vanilla farming, the most direct speed-up is Update 4’s chargeable watering can, which waters a 3×3 area and holds 50 units instead of 20.
Build an infinite water source with the mod
The two-bucket pattern is provided by the Infinite Water Source mod. Its listing supports both a 2×2 layout and a 1×3 layout; it also says waterlogged blocks work.
- Dig or prepare a one-block-deep 2×2 space.
- Place water from one bucket in a corner.
- Place water from a second bucket in the diagonally opposite corner.
- Draw water from any edge of the space.
The mod listing also describes an alternative 1×3 trench: put water at both ends and draw from the middle. Follow the current mod instructions if its behavior or layout changes.
Do not treat either arrangement as a vanilla recipe. The available official material does not establish a vanilla 2×2 or 1×3 infinite-water rule.

Water crops faster in vanilla Hytale
Use the charged watering can
Hytale’s official Update 4 notes, published March 26, 2026, say watering cans “can now be charged to water a 3×3 area.” The update also raises can capacity from 20 to 50 and assigns watering to the secondary interaction key. Charge the can, then use that secondary interaction to cover a wider patch per action.
What water does—and what is not quantified
Official farming-modifier documentation identifies water as a crop-growth modifier and lists fluids, weather, and rain duration among configurable inputs. It does not provide a player-facing growth multiplier or a specific harvest-time reduction, so there is no supported percentage to promise.

An older third-party guide describes filling a watering can at a water source and using it on plowed soil. Treat that as background rather than definitive current instructions, since the guide predates later patches.
Choose a mod for the job you need
These mods solve different problems: one makes a renewable source pattern, others make refilling containers more convenient, and FarmWater automates crop hydration. They are separate options, not a tested combination.

FarmWater’s author says the current version works with Hytale stable 5. That is an author claim, not a guarantee for every game build, server, or setup. Vanilla farming requires manual watering as farmland dries, according to the mod listing.

Hytale and its mods are version-sensitive. The listings above show different release dates and version lines, so confirm that the latest file supports your exact game build and read the author’s current installation notes. If you play on a server, check server-side support and any server-specific installation requirements before relying on a mod’s feature. Do not assume these mods work together simply because each listing describes a water-related feature.
