Hold Shift + R to make your dragon sleep in Day of Dragons. Holding R alone lies the dragon down; sleep is a separate action. If the shortcut does not work, check the game’s current key bindings.
How to make your dragon sleep
- While controlling your dragon, hold Shift and press R together. The community wiki lists the sleep input as R + Shift, and a gameplay guide gives the same shortcut.
- Wait for the dragon to enter its sleeping state. If it only lies down, check whether you are holding R without Shift; the guide lists holding R as the lie-down control.
- If neither input behaves as expected, open the game’s controls or key-bindings menu and verify the assigned keys. Day of Dragons is in Early Access, and its official site notes that the game may change significantly during development: Day of Dragons official website.
Sleeping, lying down and resting are different
The community guide distinguishes the controls: tapping R sits the dragon, holding R lies it down, and Shift + R sleeps. Resting and sleeping also appear as separate states in the game’s patch notes; those notes say armor regenerates only while a dragon is sleeping or resting. See Beawesome Games’ Day of Dragons patch notes.
The same patch notes record a sleep-healing bonus increase from 200% to 500% in Hotfix Patch 1.2.32, but explicitly describe that increase as temporary until the 1.3 healing mechanics arrived. That historical figure does not establish the current sleep-healing rate.
Does sleeping help when logging out?
An older community guide describes sleeping as part of safe logging out and says a countdown appears beneath the safe-log option. Treat that as community guidance rather than a guarantee: safe-log behavior can depend on the current game build or server. Follow the in-game safe-log prompt and wait for its countdown to finish before leaving.
