If you’re trying to buy one now, watch for restocks through PlayStation Direct and Sony-listed retailers, and compare the seller and total price before checking out. Sony’s U.S. recommended price is $899.99, effective April 2, 2026.

A U.S. retailer report published October 7, 2026, found the PS5 Pro out of stock at the major retailers it checked at that time. It reported a brief PlayStation Direct restock on October 6 and above-MSRP marketplace offers. That is a dated snapshot, not a live inventory feed or a prediction of the next restock. Tom’s Guide’s restock tracker provides the report’s context; retailer stock can change after publication.
How to judge a listing before you buy
Check the seller and condition
On retailer sites that host marketplace listings, confirm who is selling the console and whether it is new. A third-party seller’s marked-up price is not Sony’s recommended price. Review the condition, shipping charge, delivery estimate, and return terms shown on the listing before placing an order.

- Faster Loading - Fast-travel across the map and get back into the game almost instantly with the PlayStation 5 console’s ultra-high-speed SSD and fast load times.
- Stunning Visuals - Experience the vast world in stunning 4K and HDR at 120 FPS (with a 4K and HDR compatible TV or display)
- Breathtaking Immersion - Discover a deeper gaming experience with support for haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and 3D Audio technology.
- Backwards Compatibility - Play over 4,000 PS4 games on PS5. Enjoy faster and smoother frame rates in some of the PS4 console's greatest games.
Compare the full price with the current regional recommendation
In the United States, Sony’s recommended PS5 Pro price is $899.99 as of April 2, 2026. Use that figure as a reference, not as a promise that every retailer will charge exactly that amount. Sony announced a $699.99 U.S. launch price in 2024; that historical price is no longer the current recommendation. Prices and taxes vary by region, so check Sony’s guidance for your market. Sony’s 2026 price announcement lists the change and effective date.
Confirm what the box does—and does not—include
The console includes a 2TB SSD and one DualSense wireless controller. The Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive and vertical stand are sold separately. If you play physical games or watch discs, factor in the separate drive; if you want the console upright, check the stand listing as well. Sony says current PS5 accessories are compatible. Sony’s product announcement and its U.S. buying page describe the package and accessories.
Prepare for a restock without relying on a bot
There is no established tactic that guarantees a successful purchase or defeats every automated buyer. Make the ordinary checkout process as quick as possible instead:
Rank #2
- Model Number CFI-2000
- Includes DualSense Wireless Controller, 1TB SSD, 2 Horizontal Stand Feet, HDMI Cable, AC power cord, USB cable, printed materials, ASTRO’s PLAYROOM (Pre-installed game)
- Vertical Stand sold seperately
- Create or sign in to the retailer account you plan to use, and confirm your shipping address and payment method before a restock.
- Use PlayStation Direct or the retailer’s own product page, and follow its normal queue and checkout steps.
- When stock appears, verify seller, condition, and total price before submitting the order.
- Avoid checkout automation or services that bypass a retailer’s protections; they are not a reliable shortcut and may put the order or account at risk.
These steps reduce avoidable checkout friction; they cannot guarantee inventory or a completed order.
Know what the PS5 Pro’s enhancements mean
Sony’s 2024 announcement described a GPU with 67% more compute units than the then-current PS5 and memory that was 28% faster, which Sony said enabled up to 45% faster rendering. Sony also highlighted ray tracing and AI-driven upscaling. These are manufacturer claims from the launch announcement, not independent test results. PS5 Pro Enhanced features apply to selected games and vary by title, so check the specific game’s implementation rather than assuming every game gets the same improvement.
Japan has a separate application process
Sony Japan’s official application page describes a Japan-only purchase process, not a general preorder option. As of October 8, 2026, applications had closed and Sony expected to announce results from around October 26, 2026. The listed model is CFI-7100B01 at ¥137,980 including tax. Eligibility requires a Sony account registered in Japan, at least 60 total hours of PS4/PS5 play during the stated period, September 27, 2024 through September 27, 2026 at 23:59, and the specified My Sony ID/sign-in ID linkage. If applications exceed the planned quantity, Sony says selection will be by lottery. Check the official Japan application page for the conditions and status.
