Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteTo mount a monster in Monster Hunter Wilds, use the Slinger to reach an elevated feature, jump toward a large monster, then attack while airborne. Once attached, follow the on-screen prompts to move around and attack; brace when the monster bucks. Attack until you open a wound, then use the mounted attack prompt to finish the mount.
How to mount a monster
- Find something elevated. Look for a reachable ledge or feature near the monster.
- Grapple up with the Slinger. Use the Slinger to reach the elevated point.
- Jump toward the monster and attack in midair. If the airborne attack connects, your hunter clings to the monster. The exact attack input depends on your platform and customized controls, so follow the prompt shown in-game.
What to do while mounted
Once attached, use the displayed prompts to move between body areas and attack. Watch your stamina: when the monster bucks, brace to reduce stamina loss. When your attacks open a wound, the mounted attack prompt can appear; use it to perform the mount finisher.

How mounted attacks differ from Focus Strikes
A mounted finisher and a ground Focus Strike are different actions. In Focus Mode, wounds are highlighted; a successful Focus Strike destroys a wound, stuns the monster, and awards bonus resources, according to PlayStation’s starter guide. That ground-combat action is not the mounted finisher prompt.
Monster mounts and Seikret travel
Mounting a monster means temporarily clinging to a large monster during combat. The Seikret is your travel mount: you ride it to navigate the world and can perform certain actions while traveling. Those travel actions are limited, so dismount when you need to deal substantial damage.
