Moonstrike is a Stormblade DPS specialization built around spending Blade Intent on Thundercut while keeping Scythe Wheel active. Use Stormflash to turn that resource loop into a burst window; between bursts, rebuild Intent with Moonstrike and its supporting skills. The detailed rotation below follows Prydwen Institute’s guide, last updated February 10, 2026, so check live skill descriptions for your current patch before treating its values as definitive.
Understand Moonstrike’s resources and upkeep
Blade Intent fuels Thundercut
Blade Intent is the central resource. Prydwen reports baseline regeneration of 2 Intent per second and a baseline storage limit of 100, while its rotation also refers to talent upgrades that can raise the usable pool substantially, up to 400. Those figures describe different build contexts, not a universal capacity. The guide says Thundercut costs 50 Intent per activation, has no cooldown, and can be cast again while you have enough Intent. Prydwen’s Moonstrike guide

Thunder Sigils enable Moonstrike
Moonstrike, the special skill, requires three Thunder Sigils and restores Blade Intent while activating talent synergies. Oblivion Combo supplies a full set of Sigils, letting you create another pair of Moonstrike casts during downtime. The exact skill interactions depend on your selected talents.
Keep Scythe Wheel running
Scythe Wheel summons homing spinning blades and is an upkeep skill in the guide’s rotation. Refresh it before a burst so it remains active during Stormflash. Prydwen notes that the summon can behave inconsistently in some fights; if it does, adjust your timing rather than assuming it will maintain perfect uptime.

Use Stormflash to create your burst window
Stormflash is the main burst cooldown. Prydwen describes it as lasting 10 seconds, generating 20 Blade Intent per second, and adding Lightning Strikes when you use Blade Intent-spending Expertise skills. A fan-made Stormblade class overview also lists the 10-second duration and these effects. These are guide-reported mechanics, not official developer confirmation, and may change with patches.
Burst sequence
- Refresh Scythe Wheel so it covers the burst.
- Use available Battle Imagines if they align with the window.
- Activate Stormflash.
- Cast Thundercut repeatedly to spend Blade Intent. Use Divine Sickle when its talent effect is ready.
- When Intent is low or exhausted, use Chaos Breaker—the talent-evolved Moonstrike—to restore Intent, then resume Thundercut.
- Continue the loop while Intent and the relevant burst effects allow.
Divine Sickle and Chaos Breaker are talent effects, not baseline skill names; this sequence assumes you have chosen the talents that enable them.
Rebuild resources between bursts
When Stormflash is unavailable, use Moonstrike to recover Intent and keep Scythe Wheel active. The guide’s downtime sequence is:
- Spend available Thunder Sigils on two Moonstrike casts.
- If Oblivion Combo is ready, use it to restore Sigils, then cast Moonstrike twice more.
- Use Judgment Cut until Sharp Strike triggers.
- Use Overdrive to consume the effect and generate Sigils, then cast Moonstrike.
- Repeat the recovery loop while waiting for Stormflash.
Prydwen recommends using Stormflash when it becomes available even if Intent is not full, unless your Intent is critically low. That approach avoids delaying the cooldown simply to fill the resource bar.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteBuild around Thundercut’s attack-speed breakpoints
Prydwen reports that Thundercut gains hit-count breakpoints at 25%, 50%, and 80% attack speed: two, three, and four hits respectively. Its endgame gear guidance favors Haste sigils until the 80% attack-speed breakpoint, with Luck as an alternative afterward; Haste and Luck are both identified as important stats. Treat this as a progression priority rather than a universal gear prescription: exact stat value depends on your current build and patch.
The same gear table assumes Level 140/150 Set Gear and a Level 150 Relic Weapon, so it is endgame-specific, not a starter gearing guide. A practical decision order is to work toward a useful Thundercut breakpoint, then weigh Luck and other damage stats against more Haste, while selecting talents that support the Divine Sickle and Chaos Breaker loop. Prydwen’s stat and gear recommendations
Choose manual or semi-auto execution
Prydwen discourages full autoplay for endgame Moonstrike. Auto may refresh Scythe Wheel at the wrong time or use Oblivion Combo inefficiently, and it does not dodge attacks or respond to encounter mechanics. Semi-auto can be more workable if you remove Scythe Wheel, Oblivion Combo, and Battle Imagines from auto settings and activate them manually, but the guide still considers it suboptimal for endgame play.
