Start the treasure hunt with Map 1
The hunt can be started in Chapter 2. Find Maximo on the ridge northwest of Flatneck Station and obtain Jack Hall Gang Map 1. If you leave without buying it, the map is later available from a fence, according to RDR2.org’s guide, updated August 5, 2026.
Find Map 2 at Caliban’s Seat
- Travel to Caliban’s Seat and approach the rock formation from the east.
- Climb to the top, then take the narrow ledge route down the right-hand side.
- Search the crevice in the rock wall to collect Map 2.
This stop gives you the next map, not the gold bars.
Find Map 3 at Cotorra Springs
Go to Cotorra Springs and look among the stone formations beside the geysers. Inspect the central pile to retrieve Map 3. You do not need to hunt the nearby Legendary Wolf to collect it, according to the RDR2.org walkthrough.

Collect the treasure at O’Creagh’s Run
Follow Map 3 to the small rocky island in O’Creagh’s Run. Inspect the loose rock there to uncover the cache: two gold bars. RDR2.org reports that each bar can be sold to a fence for $500, or $1,000 total; those are guide-reported in-game values, not an official Rockstar quotation.
