RPCS3 is the PlayStation 3 emulator; it does not include God of War III. To use it, download RPCS3 from the official RPCS3 website, install official PS3 system software, then add a game dump you are entitled to use. RPCS3 does not provide the game, and its compatibility database currently classifies God of War III as “Ingame,” not “Playable.”
What you need to download
- RPCS3: emulator software for running PlayStation 3 games on a compatible computer. Get it from the official RPCS3 website.
- PS3 system software: RPCS3 requires PlayStation 3 firmware. Download the official update from Sony’s PS3 system software page.
- Game files: a game dump you are legally entitled to use. RPCS3 and Sony do not supply God of War III game files.
Rules for copying or using game files vary by jurisdiction and circumstances. Consult the official RPCS3 setup guidance for methods applicable to your situation; do not assume that downloading an ISO or game folder from an unofficial site is authorized.

How to set up RPCS3
- Download and install RPCS3. Use the project’s official site and follow its current instructions for your operating system.
- Download PS3 firmware from Sony. Sony lists version 4.93 on its support page. Sony’s instructions say a PC update using removable media needs at least 200 MB of free space. These details apply to Sony’s published update instructions; check the page for any newer version or changed requirements.
- Install the firmware in RPCS3. In the emulator, choose File → Install Firmware, then select the official update file.
- Add your game files. Choose File → Add Games and select the folder containing your legally obtained dump. The project’s setup material also describes folder or ISO formats from discs you own; follow its current guidance for the method and format you use.
- Launch the game from RPCS3. If it does not start or runs poorly, check the current compatibility entry and project guidance rather than assuming one setting works for every computer or game build.
Will God of War III work in RPCS3?
The RPCS3 compatibility database lists God of War III as Ingame, with the entry displayed as updated on 2025-03-14. “Ingame” is not the same as “Playable,” and does not promise that a particular user can finish the game or achieve stable performance.
The listing includes regional title IDs BCAS25003, BCES00510, BCES00799, BCKS15003, and BCUS98111, and shows a v01.03 update for those entries. Compatibility can change, and results may differ by region, game build, computer, and settings. Check the RPCS3 compatibility entry for the latest status before troubleshooting.

Where to get the game
RPCS3 is not a game store, and downloading the emulator or firmware does not download God of War III. Use a game copy and dumping method you are entitled to use under the rules that apply where you live. The RPCS3 project’s official setup guidance is the place to check for supported game formats and applicable instructions. Avoid unofficial sites offering the game as a free ROM or ISO.
