You can’t download or play God of War II in PPSSPP: it is a PlayStation 2 game, while PPSSPP emulates PlayStation Portable games. There is no PSP version of God of War II to load. If you want that exact game, you need a compatible PS2 setup; if you want a God of War game for PPSSPP, choose a PSP release such as Chains of Olympus or Ghost of Sparta.
Why God of War II won’t run in PPSSPP
God of War II was released for PlayStation 2 in 2007. PPSSPP is an emulator for games made for PSP, not PS2 games. Renaming a PS2 disc image, changing its file extension, or finding a file advertised as a “God of War II PSP ISO” will not make the PS2 game compatible. PlayStation’s God of War series listing identifies the game as a PS2 title, and PPSSPP describes its own purpose in its introduction.
Which God of War games can you play in PPSSPP?
PlayStation lists two God of War titles made for PSP: God of War: Chains of Olympus (2008) and God of War: Ghost of Sparta (2010). Either can be a PPSSPP option if you have a compatible game copy, but neither is a PSP edition or substitute release of God of War II.

How to load a PSP game you own in PPSSPP
These steps apply to an actual PSP game, not a PS2 copy of God of War II. PPSSPP does not distribute commercial game files; you supply a compatible copy. Its guidance describes PSP games originally sold on UMD or as digital downloads through PlayStation Network.
- Choose a PSP release. For a God of War game, use a PSP title such as Chains of Olympus or Ghost of Sparta, rather than God of War II.
- Make a compatible game file. If you own the UMD, PPSSPP documents copying it with a PSP running custom firmware: insert the UMD, connect the PSP to a computer over USB, select the UMD as the USB device, enable USB Connection, then copy the virtual ISO shown on the computer. This requires a PSP setup and is not a step performed by PPSSPP itself. See PPSSPP’s UMD dumping guide.
- Copy a digital PSP game if applicable. A digital game already on a real PSP can be copied off; PPSSPP’s guide says to copy its
EBOOT.PBPfile. The documentation notes that this route has not been tested as much as ISO loading and some games may have issues. See How to get games for PPSSPP and the dumping guide. - Open the file in PPSSPP. In the app’s Games tab, browse to the compatible file. On Windows or macOS, you can also use File → Load. On Android, copy the file to device storage and browse to it from Games.
PPSSPP supports ISO and compressed formats including CSO. CHD support is documented from PPSSPP version 1.17, with the PSP settings described in its dumping instructions.

If you want the exact PS2 game
Use a compatible PlayStation 2 platform and a copy of the PS2 game. A PS2 disc or image is not a file PPSSPP can load. Compatibility and setup depend on the PS2 platform you use; this article does not establish a specific current listing, price, or universal compatibility claim.
