To get Black Kyurem in Pokémon GO, fuse Kyurem with Zekrom; to get White Kyurem, fuse Kyurem with Reshiram. Each fusion costs 1,000 matching Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Candy for the partner Pokémon. You earn the Energy by defeating the corresponding fused form in a Raid Battle, then perform the fusion from an eligible Pokémon’s summary page.
What you need for each Kyurem form

These are the official Pokémon GO Fusion requirements. The Energy type is tied to the form you defeat in raids: Black Kyurem awards Volt Fusion Energy, while White Kyurem awards Blaze Fusion Energy. Pokémon GO’s Kyurem Fusion Raid Day announcement lists the requirements and Energy sources.

How to get Black Kyurem or White Kyurem
- Get Kyurem and the matching partner. You need Zekrom for Black Kyurem or Reshiram for White Kyurem.
- Raid against the form you want. Defeat Black Kyurem to earn Volt Fusion Energy or White Kyurem to earn Blaze Fusion Energy. Raid availability changes; check the in-game raid schedule for what is currently available.
- Save the required Candy and Energy. Have 30 Kyurem Candy and 30 Candy for the matching partner, plus 1,000 of the corresponding Fusion Energy.
- Fuse from a Pokémon summary page. Open the eligible Pokémon’s summary page and tap Fuse beside the Pokémon you want to combine it with. Eligible Pokémon show the Fuse option and Fusion Energy on their summary page, according to the Pokémon GO Help Center.
- Keep the fused form or separate it. Kyurem stays fused until you separate it. Separation costs no Fusion Energy or Pokémon Candy. Fused forms cannot be traded, transferred to the Professor, or sent to Pokémon HOME, according to the official announcement.
Can you catch Black Kyurem or White Kyurem in a raid?
No. Winning a raid against either fused form gives you an encounter with Kyurem, not a direct catch of Black Kyurem or White Kyurem. You must obtain the matching partner, meet the Fusion requirements, and use the Fuse option afterward. The Pokémon Company’s raid guide explains that the fused form reverts to Kyurem before the catch opportunity.
When are raids available?
The January 10, 2026 Kyurem Fusion Raid Day has passed. It ran from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time, with Reshiram and Black Kyurem appearing first, followed by Zekrom and White Kyurem; those raids awarded Fusion Energy. The event announcement has the historical schedule.

Another official opportunity is announced for Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global, beginning November 14, 2026. Black Kyurem and White Kyurem raids are announced to provide Fusion Energy. Because that event is still in the future as of October 8, 2026, check the live in-game schedule for earlier raid opportunities and revisit the Wild Area: Global event page nearer the date.
Glaciate, Freeze Shock, and Ice Burn
If the Kyurem being fused knows Glaciate, the move changes to Freeze Shock when fused with Zekrom or Ice Burn when fused with Reshiram; separating the Pokémon restores Glaciate. These moves are not prerequisites for fusion.

Freeze Shock and Ice Burn can also activate timed Adventure Effects. Official pages give conflicting Ice Burn activation costs, so check the cost shown in game rather than relying on a fixed Stardust or Candy figure. There is no universal choice established by these official sources. Choose based on which fused-form raid is available, whether you already have the required partner and Candy, and whether you prefer the associated Adventure Effect. Black Kyurem uses Zekrom and Volt Fusion Energy; White Kyurem uses Reshiram and Blaze Fusion Energy.
