For a working horn, you need a compatible mod; for a head-worn decoration, a data pack may provide one. A decorative build made from ordinary blocks is another option, but it will not function as an item.
Can you craft a unicorn horn in vanilla Minecraft?
No vanilla crafting recipe was found. A Minecraft Feedback entry proposes unicorn horns and wings, but it is a player suggestion, not evidence of an in-game recipe: Minecraft Feedback. The horn examples below come from added content, so do not expect a vanilla crafting-grid recipe to work.
Get a functional horn with a mod
Flying Unicorns
The Flying Unicorns project describes winged unicorns that can be tamed and ridden. Its instructions say to shear the fully grown horn from an adult unicorn, then use that horn to craft a summoning horn bonded to that unicorn. The unicorn’s horn grows back over time.
Before installing, check the project page for its current Minecraft version and mod-loader requirements. Mod instructions are not interchangeable across versions or loaders.

Wings, Horns & Hooves
Wings, Horns & Hooves adds unicorns and other magical mounts. Its listing includes Minecraft 1.20.2 and 1.20.1, and shows a release dated September 2026. Select the file that matches both your Minecraft version and loader; the existence of a listing for one version does not establish compatibility with another.
Mo’ Creatures
Mo’ Creatures’ wiki describes a unicorn-horn item with mod-specific drops and uses. Those mechanics belong to that mod and are not vanilla Minecraft behavior.

Make a cosmetic horn with a data pack
The Special Armor Pieces data-pack listing describes a cosmetic method: hold an end rod, look straight up, and drop it to place it on your character’s head as a unicorn horn. This is a data-pack-specific effect, not a vanilla recipe. Check the listing for compatibility with your game version before trying it.
Choose the route that fits your game

Build a simple decorative horn
If you only want a horn-shaped ornament in a build, use a narrow stack of blocks that tapers toward the top. In Creative mode, place a broad base and reduce the width as you add height; bright or metallic-looking blocks can make it read clearly as a unicorn horn. This is a construction suggestion, not a canonical recipe, and it will not create an item you can equip.
