To get a Roblox mesh ID, select the mesh in Roblox Studio and read its MeshId property in the Properties panel. If you just uploaded the mesh, right-click it in the Importer and choose Copy asset ID. Check that you copied the mesh itself, not a model that contains it: those can have different IDs.
Find the MeshId of an object already in your place

Open your place in Roblox Studio and find the object in Explorer.

Select the MeshPart or other mesh-bearing object.

In the Properties panel, locate MeshId. Roblox defines this property as the content ID of the mesh displayed by the object. See the FileMesh reference and Assets documentation.
The ID is an asset identifier, not the object’s name in Explorer. Roblox assets are cloud-based and have unique IDs; references commonly use the form rbxassetid://[ID]. Use the value format expected by the property or workflow you are editing rather than assuming every place wants the same representation.

If the selected object is a model
A model can contain multiple parts, each with its own mesh content. Select the mesh-bearing child and inspect its MeshId rather than treating the model’s asset ID as the ID for every mesh inside it.

In Studio, choose File > Import and select a supported mesh file.

Complete the import and review any warnings or errors.

In the Importer, right-click the imported item and choose Copy asset ID.

Confirm what you imported. Roblox’s Importer documentation says this command copies the uploaded asset ID; for a model, it copies the model’s ID.
If you need an individual mesh ID from an imported model, inspect the relevant mesh object in the place after import and read its MeshId property.

Find a mesh made by another creator
Search the Creator Store through Creator Hub or open Toolbox in Studio. Browse or search for mesh assets, open an asset’s details to check its type and information, and insert it into your project if appropriate. The official Creator Store and Toolbox documentation describe these discovery routes. Once inserted, select the mesh-bearing object in Studio and inspect its MeshId property to get the individual mesh content ID.
When choosing among results, check whether the item is a mesh or a model, who created it, its intended use, and whether you have permission to use it. Roblox also explains store browsing in The Creator Store support article.

If the mesh ID does not work

Check what you copied. A model’s asset ID is not necessarily the ID of a mesh inside it. Inspect the mesh object itself.

Check access. Asset permissions can restrict loading, inserting, or sharing. Having an ID does not guarantee that your account or experience can access the asset; consult Roblox’s Assets documentation and Creator Store documentation.

Check moderation status. Roblox says assets still in moderation cannot be seen or interacted with until approval. Changing the ID format will not resolve an access restriction or moderation hold.
