In Minecraft: Java Edition, you can make the F3 display itself smaller only in builds that include a separate debug-overlay scale setting. In 26.3 Snapshot 4, press F3+F6, open Debug Options, and adjust Debug Overlay GUI Scale. In versions without that setting, you can reduce clutter by hiding debug information, but that does not shrink the remaining text.
Make the F3 overlay smaller when the scale setting is available
The separate scale control is documented for Minecraft: Java Edition 26.3 Snapshot 4. It changes the debug overlay’s size independently of the regular game GUI scale.

- While in the game, press F3+F6 to open Debug Options.
- Find Debug Overlay GUI Scale.
- Choose a scale option. Auto tries to keep the overlay at a higher resolution than normal; Unchanged matches the regular GUI scale. Other listed options let you set the scale directly.
These instructions are specific to the cited snapshot: the available documentation does not establish that the separate-scale feature is in every stable release. Check your exact game version before following them. Minecraft 26.3 Snapshot 4 notes.
Reduce clutter in versions with configurable debug information
If your version has the configurable Debug Options menu but not a separate overlay scale, use it to remove lines you do not need. Java Edition snapshot 25w31a documents this menu, opened with F3+F5; official Java Edition 1.21.9 release notes also document configurable debug-entry visibility.

- Press F3+F5 to open Debug Options in builds using the 25w31a shortcut.
- Change individual entries to hide information you do not need, or set entries to appear only while the debug screen is open rather than remaining visible when it is closed.
This changes which information is shown, not the physical scale of the text that remains. The option state is saved between launches. If F3+F5 does not open the menu, verify your version and controls rather than assuming the shortcut is the same in every build.
