A Roblox asset ID is the number that identifies an asset—such as a catalog item, image, model, or audio file. The quickest way to find it depends on where the asset appears: check the item’s URL, open its Creator Store details, or use Studio’s Copy Asset ID option for audio.
Find an avatar catalog item’s asset ID
- Open the item’s page on Roblox in a browser.
- Look at the page address and note the item number in the link. Roblox Support identifies that number as the item’s Asset ID: Roblox Support.
Use the number itself when you need the ID. A catalog item’s asset ID is not the same thing as an experience or place ID, or a user ID.
Find a Creator Store asset’s details
Search for the asset in Creator Hub’s Creator Store or in the Studio Toolbox, then open its details page. Roblox says that page includes the asset’s name, type, and other asset information. Use the details page to confirm you have the intended item: Creator Store documentation.
Copy an audio asset ID in Studio
- In Roblox Studio, open the Toolbox and select the Creator Store tab.
- Choose Audio, then find the sound or track.
- Right-click the audio asset and select Copy Asset ID.
- Paste the copied ID into the relevant field, such as an
AudioPlayerobject.
Roblox’s audio documentation notes that imported audio IDs are not accessible to users who lack the appropriate permissions. If you have the right number but cannot use the audio, check its access permissions: Roblox audio documentation.

Find the ID for an image, texture, or decal you uploaded
Roblox assigns an image a unique asset ID when it is imported for use as a texture or decal. Find the asset in your asset-management or Studio view, or open its asset link and read the number there. The exact dashboard route can vary; Roblox’s documentation explains the import and asset-ID relationship: Texture and decal documentation.
In many Studio properties, a reference uses the form rbxassetid://123456789: replace the example number with the asset’s actual ID. Roblox describes assets as cloud-based items with unique corresponding IDs in its asset documentation.

If the ID does not work
- Check the asset type. Make sure you copied the ID for the catalog item, audio, image, or other asset you intend to use—not an experience, place, or user ID.
- Check access. An ID identifies an asset but does not grant permission to use it. For audio in particular, Roblox restricts access when the necessary permissions are missing.
- Use the asset’s own page or Studio action. A direct asset link or the available Copy Asset ID command is safer than relying on a number copied from an unrelated page.
