Where to find the Scuffed Rock
The rock is in a lower cove on the Ravaged Beach in the Wilderness area of Act One. Jump down the ledges near X: 168, Y: 263, then head to X: 143, Y: 281. The coordinates are in-game map coordinates.
bg3.wiki’s Ravaged Beach page says a DC 10 Nature check near the cache can reveal grooves around the rock. A separate walkthrough describes a Perception check instead. Check the area and follow the prompt your game gives rather than relying on one check type.
How to move it
- Reveal or identify the rock. Inspect the cove and complete the prompted observation check if one appears.
- Select a strong party member. A character with sufficient Strength can shift the rock, but the available sources do not establish a consistent minimum score.
- Move the rock. On PC, walkthroughs describe clicking and dragging it aside. If that does not work, try your strongest character and make sure the rock has been noticed or identified. Controls may differ on other platforms or between versions.
- Open the chest. Once the rock is out of the way, interact with the chest it covered.
Gamer Guides’ walkthrough also gives the jumping route and PC drag interaction. A 2021 player post on the Larian Studios forum likewise reports noticing the rock and left-click dragging it; that is an anecdotal account, not an official control specification.

Reading Harper’s Map marks another hidden cache at the Harper outpost, according to bg3.wiki.
