To beat P.A.X., attack its legs from the side or rear to fill the orange gauge, then use its missile attack to make it fall and strike its exposed torso. If you want the improved P.A.X. Imperator v.2.0 weapon, use the separate hardcore method: remove the armor from both legs, trip the planted leg during a stomp, and prevent the missiles from damaging P.A.X.
Where the P.A.X. fight happens
P.A.X. is Warren’s first boss, encountered at the Rocket Assembly Station after restoring power to use the tram. Defeating it opens the tram route to Central Production B. The security robot attacks with melee blades and dorsal missiles; its cannon malfunctions during this encounter. The Surge Wiki’s P.A.X. guide describes the encounter and its rewards.

How to beat P.A.X. with the standard method
- Work around to a leg. Approach from the side or rear and attack a leg. Leg hits build the orange gauge. Avoid staying in front, where P.A.X.’s broad, fast melee attacks put you at greater risk.
- Read the stomp. Watch for P.A.X. raising a foot and dodge its landing. If you have removed the armor from both legs and want to pursue the hardcore kill, the stomp also creates a chance to attack the leg that remains planted; the full special condition is explained below.
- Close in when the missiles start. For the standard kill, when P.A.X. jumps away and begins firing missiles, move close and get underneath it. The missiles can hit its torso and knock it down.
- Use the knockdown to deal damage. Attack the exposed torso or head while P.A.X. is down. As armor sections break, switch to another available target area, then return to working its legs and repeat the knockdown cycle.
The orange gauge is a cue to keep pressuring the legs; the standard opening comes from letting the missiles hit P.A.X. rather than trying to win a prolonged exchange in front of it. SAMURAI GAMERS’ P.A.X. boss guide also describes leg attacks, the stomp, and the missile approach.
Standard kill or hardcore kill?
Both methods defeat P.A.X. and advance the player, but the hardcore kill requires a different takedown and missile condition.

| Approach | How to make P.A.X. fall | Missile condition | Weapon reward listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard kill | Move underneath during the missile attack so the missiles can hit P.A.X.’s torso. | Missile self-damage is allowed and is the standard knockdown tactic. | P.A.X. Imperator |
| Hardcore kill | Remove the armor from both legs, then hit the supporting leg just before the raised leg stomps to trip P.A.X. | Do not let the missiles damage P.A.X.; stay mobile and avoid the blast. | P.A.X. Imperator v.2.0 |
The wiki also lists Vital Boost v.3 as a guaranteed reward. Its guide is community-maintained, rather than an official game source.

- Attack and remove the armor plating from both legs.
- Stay mobile through the missile sequence and avoid letting the blasts hit P.A.X.; self-inflicted missile damage prevents the special condition.
- Watch for a stomp. When one leg is raised, strike the leg still supporting P.A.X. just before the raised leg comes down. This trips the boss without relying on missile damage.
- Attack while it is down, continuing to avoid missile self-damage until the fight ends.
This is a distinct route, not a requirement for finishing the boss. If the improved weapon is not your goal, use the missile knockdown to make the standard fight more straightforward.
