On PC, verify the game’s resolution and screen mode; those settings affect the game image, not just the HUD.
First identify what is being cut off
- HUD only: Map edges, hints, or interface elements disappear, but the world view itself fits the screen.
- The whole picture: The game image is enlarged or cropped at the edges, including the scenery.
- Window or resolution: On PC, the game appears in a small window, does not fill the monitor, or uses an unsuitable resolution.
These problems have different controls. HUD Safezone changes interface bounds; it does not necessarily resize the rendered game image.

Adjust a cut-off HUD on console
- Open Settings in Red Dead Redemption 2.
- Go to Display > HUD Safezone.
- Use the D-pad to move the safe-zone bounds inward until the map, hints, and other HUD elements are visible.

Fix a picture cropped at the edges
If the scenery and HUD are both cropped, the TV may be enlarging the image through overscan or a picture-size setting. Open the television’s picture settings and look for options such as screen fit, aspect ratio, or Just Scan. The exact names and availability depend on the TV. If the TV setting does not resolve the crop, check the console’s display-area settings. Do not rely on console zoom or display-area adjustment as a guaranteed in-game fix: Sony notes that moving the display area may not work during gameplay. PlayStation accessibility settings
Set the image size on PC
Game window does not fill the monitor
In the game’s display or graphics settings, check the selected output resolution and screen type. Use a resolution supported by the monitor, and choose the screen mode that suits your setup. Exact menu labels and recovery steps can vary across versions; current authoritative Rockstar instructions for recovering from an unsupported or blank display were not established.

Ultrawide interface looks wrong
PCGamingWiki lists Windowed Borderless as a possible workaround for an ultrawide UI problem. The same page says the issue may have been fixed by patch 1.31, so the workaround’s current relevance is uncertain. PCGamingWiki: Red Dead Redemption 2
Be cautious with configuration-file edits
Config-file changes are advanced and version-sensitive, not a universal first step. If you choose to change a file, back up the original settings first. Rockstar’s support index includes RDR2 help articles and Title Update 1.32 notes for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but does not establish a specific screen-sizing procedure. If the screen goes blank after changing resolution
A resolution the display cannot show can leave the picture blank. The available sources do not establish a current, authoritative RDR2 recovery sequence for that case, so avoid applying unverified config edits as though they work on every version. Use the game’s safe-display option or the relevant platform’s official support instructions if available.
