| Mod | What it adds | How you obtain it in-game | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| NCR Ranger Veteran Armor | A focused Veteran Ranger armor option. Nexus Mods lists the mod by DogtoothCG and Unoctium; the listing shows version 0.4 and links an Xbox One version on Bethesda.net. | The cited listing establishes the mod route, but does not state an in-game vendor or crafting method. | Check the current listing for availability and platform-specific details. The listing records an original upload date of January 26, 2016 and a last update of May 24, 2018, so those details do not establish current availability on every platform. Nexus Mods listing |
| NCR Outfit Pack | Several outfits based on Fallout: New Vegas and its DLCs, including NCR Combat Ranger armor, NCR Desert Ranger armor, Riot Gear, Advanced Riot Gear, and Elite Riot Gear. The listed Ranger variants have helmets. | The mod page says to buy armor and crafting plans from vendors, including Fallon’s basement. Plans unlock crafting at a chemistry workbench. | The page warns that the mod is incompatible with some Pip-Boy-removal mods, naming Pip-Pad as an example. It does not provide a complete current compatibility list. NCR Outfit Pack page |
How to find and install a Fallout 4 mod
- Check the mod’s own page first. Confirm that the file is currently available for your platform and read its requirements, platform notes, and incompatibilities. A general mod-browsing route does not mean every mod is available everywhere.
- Browse Bethesda.net or the in-game Mods menu. Bethesda Support says mods can be browsed on Bethesda.net and added to your in-game library with “Add to Library,” or found from Fallout 4’s Mods menu. Follow the listing’s instructions for your platform. Bethesda Support: How do I install mods for Fallout 4?
- Launch the game and check your mod selection. If you have added the mod to your library, look for it through the game’s Mods menu and follow the displayed steps. Bethesda cautions that experience may vary when playing with mods.
- Use the mod’s in-game instructions. For NCR Outfit Pack, look for the vendor-sold armor and plans described on its page; craft items at a chemistry workbench after purchasing the relevant plans.
What to know about the Veteran Ranger mod
Bethesda’s August 11, 2016 interview identified Unoctium’s NCR Ranger Armor as a downloadable Fallout 4 mod. In that historical interview, creator Richard Edwards described the Veteran Ranger armor mod as having multiple visors that could use a player’s Science skill, and armor upgrades tied to hunting wasteland creatures. Those details describe the mod at the time of the interview, not a guarantee about the current files. Bethesda interview

- You cannot find it in an unmodded game: The sources cited here support mod-added armor, not a vanilla quest or loot location.
- The mod does not appear for your platform: Check its specific listing or search the in-game Mods menu. The historical Xbox link for the Veteran Armor listing does not establish present-day availability, and does not confirm availability on other platforms.
- An outfit or crafting plan is not available immediately: For NCR Outfit Pack, check the listed vendors, including Fallon’s basement; the page says plans are needed to craft at a chemistry workbench.
- You use a Pip-Boy-removal mod: Check compatibility before installing NCR Outfit Pack; its page specifically names Pip-Pad as an incompatibility.
