Complete a Weekly Challenge in Pokémon GO to earn a Tandemaus encounter, then evolve Tandemaus using 50 Tandemaus Candy to get Maushold. Weekly Challenges are group activities, with each Trainer limited to one completed challenge per week.
Get Tandemaus from a Weekly Challenge
- Join or create a group. Open the Social tab and join or create a Weekly Challenge group. Groups can include up to four Trainers, and a Trainer can belong to only one group at a time. Weekly Challenges became globally available on December 2, 2025. Pokémon GO’s announcement explains the feature.
- Complete the weekly goal. Each Trainer can complete one challenge per week. Successful completion rewards an encounter with Tandemaus; Pokémon GO added that reward in an update on January 19, 2026. Check the active challenge and reward in the Social tab, since feature details can change.
- Catch Tandemaus. The encounter is the reward for completing the challenge, so finish the goal and catch the Pokémon when it appears. Matchmaking is available as an opt-in way to find a group with Trainers who are not already your friends.
Evolve Tandemaus into Maushold
Evolution requires 50 Tandemaus Candy. Catching more Tandemaus helps build the Candy needed. To evolve it, open Tandemaus’s summary page and select the evolution option; Pokémon GO’s Help Center explains that the Candy requirement appears on that page. Read the Pokémon GO evolution instructions.
Other ways Tandemaus has appeared
Past events offered additional opportunities, but those dated event rewards are no longer current routes:
- Party Play: At Tandemaus’s July 2024 debut, Pokémon GO said Trainers could encounter it through Party Play “if you’re lucky.” That announcement does not confirm that Tandemaus remains in the current Party Play encounter pool. See the Better Together announcement.
- Better Together event research: Field Research and free Timed Research offered Tandemaus during the July 17–22, 2024 event. Those research opportunities have ended. Event details.
- Cozy Companions: During the August 6–12, 2025 event, Tandemaus had an increased chance of appearing through Party Play and was available in free Timed Research. Those event bonuses and tasks were limited to that event. See the Cozy Companions announcement.

What is not confirmed about Maushold
The official sources cited here confirm the Candy cost to evolve Tandemaus, but do not establish whether you can choose Maushold’s family form or the odds of receiving each form. They also do not provide a current Tandemaus encounter percentage or Shiny rate. Avoid relying on numerical odds or form guarantees that are not supported by current, reliable information.
