The documented way to unlock Caine’s “Trail Blazer” Operator Skin was to open hidden safes during Warzone’s Return to Verdansk event, which ran April 3–15, 2025. That event has ended, and the sources available do not confirm that the skin or its safe reward has returned. If the event is active again in your game, Battle Royale Casual and coordinated squad searches were the fastest documented approach; otherwise, check the current Caine skin list and event menus before trying the old route.
First, check whether Trail Blazer is currently obtainable
Activision described Trail Blazer as a special Caine Operator Skin earned through hidden safes in the limited-time Return to Verdansk event. The event ran April 3–15, 2025, and its announcement listed 20 total rewards. Because that window has passed, the route below is historical guidance, not confirmation of a current unlock. The available sources do not establish a later return.
Check the current in-game Caine skin list and active event menus. If Trail Blazer or a matching safe-reward event is not shown, searching Verdansk safes based on the old event guide is not a verified way to obtain it. Activision’s official announcement identifies the event dates and reward; its Season 03 patch notes describe the event modes and safe rewards.
Fastest documented strategy during the event
Use Battle Royale Casual to reduce opposition
For event-era attempts, Windows Central recommended Battle Royale Casual, either solo or with a premade group. Activision described the Verdansk mode as having 28 players and 120 bots, making it a less contested setting for searching than a standard match. Those figures describe the mode in the 2025 patch notes; they do not establish that the same mode or player mix is available now.

With a squad, search separate areas at once
A premade squad can cover more ground by splitting up and checking different safe locations simultaneously. Windows Central reported that one squad member finding the special “Golden Safe” was enough for the group to receive the skin. The guide says the safe looked like ordinary safes until it opened, when a gold shimmer revealed it. This shared-unlock detail comes from the guide, not Activision’s event announcement, so treat it as event-era guidance rather than an official rule for any future return.
Solo, repeat a compact Hills route
Windows Central’s solo route focused on the Hills area and started at the Buy Station near the downed helicopter. From there, the guide checked these nearby points:

- Look along the wall at the gas station.
- Check the second Buy Station near the stone monument.
- Search the nearby stairs and parking area.
- Check the location by the trucks.
- If time allows, search the compound near the red tower.
Safe spawns varied. The guide advised restarting when the first safe was missing, since other locations could also be empty. It reported that the route could check up to six safes in roughly two minutes, and that its author reached around 70–80 openings per hour. Those are the guide writer’s reported results, not independently verified rates or a guarantee for another player.

The safe reward was chance-based. Opening more safes created more chances, but neither Activision’s announcement nor the guide provides a published drop rate, a guaranteed number of openings, or a dependable time-to-unlock. No route can promise the skin after a particular number of matches or safes. If the event returns with the same mechanic, a squad’s simultaneous coverage may increase the number of locations checked per match; it cannot remove the randomness.

Which approach is better: solo or squad?
| Approach | What it offers | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Premade squad | Members can search separate areas at the same time; Windows Central reported the skin was shared when one member found the Golden Safe. | Requires coordination and relies on the guide’s account of shared rewards. |
| Solo | A repeatable Hills route concentrates searches around several nearby safe locations. | One player covers fewer locations at a time, and missing spawns may make a match inefficient. |
| Battle Royale Casual | The event-era mode had 28 players and 120 bots according to Activision’s 2025 patch notes, reducing human interference relative to a more contested match. | Those historical mode details do not confirm current availability or an active safe reward. |
What not to expect
- There is no confirmed current way to earn the skin if the event and its safe reward are not active.
- There is no published exact chance, fixed safe count, or guaranteed unlock time.
- No paid code, physical product, or controller is established as a way to obtain this cosmetic; the documented route was a free limited-time gameplay event.
