Complete Knowledge activities marked by orange hexagons on the map. Temples, shrines, Naoe’s Kuji-kiri, Yasuke’s Kata, and several exploration challenges award Knowledge. It is shared between Naoe and Yasuke, and raising Knowledge Rank makes more abilities available in the Mastery menus.
Find Knowledge activities on the map
Look for orange-hexagon icons. Choose an activity nearby; the options include exploration tasks and short challenges, so you can pick what suits your pace. Ubisoft describes Knowledge as coming from non-violent activities such as collecting Lost Pages, praying at shrines, and completing character-specific activities. Its beginner guide also points to horseback archery, while the Gamepressure walkthrough lists Kofun and Hidden Trails.
Ways to earn Knowledge

How Knowledge differs from XP and Mastery Points
These are separate parts of progression. XP raises character level and awards Mastery Points. Knowledge Rank determines which abilities become available to unlock with those points. Ubisoft says Naoe and Yasuke share their level, XP, Mastery Points, and Knowledge, so completing an activity as one character benefits both.
Knowledge Rank changes over time
Ubisoft’s February 2025 overview described six Knowledge Ranks at that time, with Rank 6 opening a further Knowledge tree. A later September 2025 patch listing recorded new skill ranks, Knowledge Ranks, and a level-cap increase. Ubisoft’s final-update article confirms a final major content drop in June 2026, but the available sources do not establish the current Knowledge Rank cap or thresholds. Treat the old six-rank figure as historical, not as the current maximum.
