Start on the item’s Roblox Marketplace details page. An off-sale item is not automatically obtainable from another player: Roblox identifies Limited and Limited U collectibles as eligible for player resale or trading. If the item is neither, Roblox’s reviewed guidance does not establish an official player-to-player way to get it.
Check whether the off-sale item is obtainable
- Search the Roblox Marketplace by the item’s name or title. Roblox’s Marketplace guidance describes keyword and title search, as well as an Unavailable Items filter.
- Open the item’s details page and look for its item type, Limited or Limited U tag, Buy button, reseller listings and Tradable status. Roblox says a faded Buy button means the item is not for sale; a “Tradable: Yes” field identifies an eligible Limited or Limited U item. See Understanding an item’s details page.
- If it is not marked Limited or Limited U, do not assume it can be bought from a reseller or exchanged through Roblox’s Trade feature. Roblox’s current guidance identifies those collectible types for resale and trading; it does not establish those routes for other off-sale items.
Ways to get an eligible Limited or Limited U
Buy from a player reseller
If the item page lists resellers, compare their displayed asking prices and use the purchase flow on Roblox. A listed price is what that seller is asking, not a guarantee of fair market value. Roblox’s resale rules currently limit resale to Limited and Limited U items, require an active Roblox Plus subscription, and may impose a holding period of up to 30 days before an item can be resold. Check How to sell items for the current rules before planning a purchase or resale.
Trade through Roblox
Roblox’s official Trade feature is another route for eligible Limited items. The other player must be willing to offer the item, and you should review the complete offer before accepting: Roblox says completed trades are final. Current Roblox Support guidance lists these requirements:
- Both users need an active Roblox Plus subscription.
- Trading and inventory visibility must be enabled.
- Both users must be in a supported region; Roblox lists South Korea as unsupported.
- The items offered must be eligible Limited or Limited U collectibles.
Requirements can change, so check Trading on Roblox before making a trade. The item page’s Tradable field can help confirm whether a particular collectible is eligible.

When neither route works
If the item is not Limited or Limited U, has no reseller listings, or cannot be traded, the reviewed Roblox guidance does not establish another official player-to-player way to obtain it. Regional availability can also affect whether an avatar item is accessible. Roblox’s Avatar Item Availability guidance covers regional restrictions; contact Roblox Support if the page indicates an availability restriction or moderation issue rather than assuming a trade will bypass it.
Creating and selling avatar items is a separate creator activity, not a way to obtain someone else’s off-sale item. Roblox describes creator requirements in Creating and Selling Avatar Items.

Keep purchases and trades inside Roblox’s official Marketplace and Trade systems. Roblox warns: “Roblox cannot enforce deals made outside these features. If you make a deal outside these features and the other player breaks it, Roblox cannot return your items or Robux.” Do not accept real-money offers, account sales, “send first” arrangements, requests to lend account access, or promises that someone will sell or trade your item for you.
