In Minecraft Bedrock 1.21, you can get Mending from librarian trades, fishing, loot in certain structures and vaults, or raid drops. Trading is the most controllable method, but the right librarian depends on whether your world has the experimental Villager Trade Rebalance enabled. Once you have a Mending book, combine it with gear at an anvil.
Choose a way to find a Mending book

If you want a repeatable route you can actively pursue, start with librarians. Fishing, exploration, vaults, and raids are alternatives when they fit what you are already doing; the sources do not establish comparative drop rates.

Check whether villager trade rebalance is enabled
Mojang’s Bedrock 1.20.30 release notes say the villager trade changes are experimental and must be enabled in the world’s Experiments settings. Mojang explains the change this way: “Before these changes, players could get any Village enchantment from any Librarian.” The notes do not establish that the experiment is enabled by default in Bedrock 1.21, so check the settings for your particular world.

- Experiment on: The reference lists Mending with a master-level librarian in a swamp village.
That swamp requirement applies to the experimental rebalance, not to every Bedrock 1.21 world. The reference also records a display-name change from “Mending I” to “Mending” in Bedrock 1.21.30 preview; it is a naming change, not evidence that the acquisition methods changed.

Get Mending from a librarian
- Find or create a librarian and inspect its enchanted-book trade.
- If your world uses ordinary trades, check librarians until one offers Mending, then trade for the book.
- If the trade rebalance experiment is enabled, seek a master-level swamp librarian and check its offer.
A librarian’s offer can be inspected before you commit to trading. The reviewed sources do not confirm a Bedrock 1.21-specific reroll procedure or give a trade probability, so do not count on a particular number of attempts.
Try other sources if you prefer exploration or chance
You can fish, search the listed structures and vaults, or take part in raids for another chance at a Mending book. These routes are less directly controllable than checking librarian offers. The reviewed sources provide no current Bedrock 1.21 odds, so there is no supported basis for ranking them by likelihood.

Apply Mending with an anvil
- Place an anvil and open its interface.
- Put the target item in the first slot and the Mending enchanted book in the second.
- Take the resulting item from the output slot.
Microsoft’s Bedrock creator documentation describes applying an enchanted book to an item at an anvil. Mending then uses experience to repair the item while you collect experience orbs and hold or wear it in an eligible slot. The Minecraft Wiki reference gives the repair rate as two durability per experience point. If multiple damaged Mending items are held or worn, each orb selects one eligible item at random, according to that reference. Mending is incompatible with Infinity, which matters when choosing an enchantment for a bow.
