To sign up for the League of Legends Public Beta Environment (PBE), visit Riot’s official PBE page, select SIGN UP FOR PBE, and follow the signup instructions. After registering, sign in to the Riot Client with your PBE account and select League of Legends PBE from the small arrow beside Play. Riot says there are no special signup requirements and no separate PBE client is needed.
How to sign up for PBE on League of Legends
- Open Riot’s League of Legends PBE page.
- Choose SIGN UP FOR PBE and follow the instructions in Riot’s signup flow.
- When you have a PBE account, open the Riot Client and sign in with that account.
- Select League of Legends. Open the small arrow beside Play, then choose League of Legends PBE.
Riot says you do not need to download a separate PBE client; you launch PBE from the Riot Client.

What are the PBE sign-up requirements?
Riot’s PBE FAQ, dated May 31, 2026, says there are no special signup requirements: “There are none! Anybody can make a PBE account.” You do not have to purchase anything to register or play.
Where do I download the PBE client?
You do not need a separate PBE client. Sign in to the Riot Client using your PBE account, select League of Legends, and choose the PBE option from the arrow beside Play.

What to expect when playing on PBE
It is a test environment
Riot describes PBE as work in progress. Content may be incomplete, buggy, temporarily deactivated, or changed before it reaches the live game. Treat it as a testing environment rather than a preview of a guaranteed final release.
Queues and maintenance can affect access
New content can bring login queues, and Riot’s FAQ warns that queue timers may not update properly when the server is at capacity. Riot also performs regular maintenance. Its PBE page gives a general Monday-to-Friday maintenance and patch window of 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time; that is a usual schedule, not a guarantee of exact downtime. The FAQ describes maintenance as regularly lasting an hour or two. If you cannot log in, check Riot’s current service status and support information, since availability can change.

Ping and matchmaking may differ from your live region
Riot says PBE is hosted in North America. Players connecting from elsewhere will likely have higher-than-normal ping, and matchmaking may take longer or produce less even matches because the PBE population is smaller than on regional live servers.
Do you need to buy anything on PBE?
No purchase is required. Riot says PBE content is available at its in-game prices. The PBE information page also describes a special daily mission that grants 3,000 RP for use specifically in the PBE Store; this is in-game currency, not a signup fee or cash value.

Keep your PBE account private
Riot warns that sharing a PBE account could result in permanent suspension. Friends who want to play on PBE should create their own accounts rather than use yours.
