To show your Champion Mastery in a League of Legends match, use a champion at Mastery Level 4 or higher, then press Ctrl+6. Riot also documents /masterybadge as an alternative. Both inputs trigger the in-game mastery emote; loading-screen and other mastery displays appear automatically.
Use the mastery emote in a match
- Check in the client that the champion you plan to play is at least Mastery Level 4. Riot’s guide lists 6,600 Mastery Points as the Level 4 requirement. Riot’s Champion Mastery Guide
- Start a game using that champion.
- Press Ctrl+6 to display the mastery emote, or enter
/masterybadgein chat.
What you need to unlock Level 4
Riot’s English Champion Mastery Guide, authored by Laserface and dated July 31, 2025, lists the following progression requirements. Mastery levels persist between seasons and years.

The first four levels are unlocked with Mastery Points; Marks of Mastery are an additional requirement from Level 5 onward. Level 4 is the threshold for using the emote. Riot Games Player Support

Other places Champion Mastery appears
- Loading screen: At Level 4 or higher, the champion’s mastery level appears on the loading-screen banner.
- Multi-kill announcement: A mastery banner can appear beneath the announcement for a champion at Level 4 or higher.
- Death recap: The recap may show the responsible player’s mastery level when it is at least Level 4.
Riot describes Mastery Crests as visual representations of mastery. The crest evolves across Levels 1–10; at Level 11 and above, it includes the actual level number. Some in-game displays provide less detail: multi-kill banners group levels as 4, 5–9, and 10+, and death recap does not show additional level information above 10. Riot’s guide to mastery indicators

If Ctrl+6 does not work
- Confirm that you are playing the champion whose mastery you checked and that it has reached Level 4.
- Check the game’s current key bindings in case the shortcut has been changed.
- Try
/masterybadgein chat if the shortcut is unavailable; if neither input works, the current client or a later game update may have changed how the feature behaves.
