In Minecraft Bedrock Edition, open Settings → General and turn off In-Game Player Tutorials. Avoid Restart Tutorial: it resets tutorial counters and can make tutorial prompts appear again. The setting is for tutorial prompts; it is not confirmed to hide every contextual tip, chat hint, or item tooltip.
Turn off tutorial prompts in Bedrock Edition
- Open Settings. From the game, go to Settings.
- Open General. Find In-Game Player Tutorials and switch it off. Menu wording or placement can vary by platform and version, so check the General settings in your installed build. The official Bedrock gamerule reference does not document a rule for disabling tutorial tips: gamerule Command.
A community-maintained Bedrock menu reference describes Tutorial as showing tutorial hints and Restart Tutorial as resetting tutorial counters. That explains why restarting is the wrong choice when you want fewer prompts: Tutorial: Menu screen/Bedrock Edition.
Which kind of Minecraft tip do you mean?
Players use “tips” to describe several different on-screen elements. The tutorial toggle is the clearest documented setting for tutorial prompts, but the available sources do not establish that it hides every other message or tooltip.
- Tutorial prompts: Use In-Game Player Tutorials in Bedrock’s General settings.
- Contextual game tips: Minecraft’s Bedrock 1.21.20 release notes described contextual tips, including a touch-device swim tip and conditions affecting which tips appear. This is evidence for that version, not proof that every detail remains unchanged in later builds: Minecraft 1.21.20 (Bedrock).
- Item tooltips: These are separate from tutorial prompts. A Minecraft Feedback discussion about updated Bedrock tooltips appeared in August 2026, but it does not establish a universal current setting to turn them all off: Let’s talk about updated Bedrock Tooltips.
- Chat or command hints: The cited official documentation does not identify a general tutorial-tip setting that controls these.
What about Java Edition?
The official sources available here do not confirm a current Java Edition setting or supported command for disabling tutorial hints. Minecraft’s controls article explains that controls can be customized in the options menu, but does not give instructions for turning tutorial tips off: Minecraft Controls.

Do not use a Bedrock menu path or invent a gamerule for Java. User requests on Minecraft Feedback asking for an option to disable tips or tutorial pop-ups show that players have asked for such controls, but those requests do not prove what settings exist in a particular current release: Tutorial and add an option to turn of the tips and hints.
