If you mean a child’s content-maturity limit, a linked parent account can change it. If the account has the wrong birthday, use Roblox’s birthday-correction process. A Restricted experience, however, requires the player to be 18 or older and age checked; changing parental controls does not bypass that rule.
First identify which restriction you’re seeing
Roblox handles content maturity, account birthdays, and age checks separately. Use the path that matches the issue:
- A child cannot access content rated above the selected level: adjust Content maturity through the linked parent account.
- The account shows the wrong age or birthday: request a birthday correction in Account Info and complete any prompts.
- An experience is marked Restricted or asks for an age check: parental content settings cannot override its eligibility requirements.
Change a child’s content-maturity limit
A parent or guardian must use a parent account linked to the child’s Roblox account. The maturity setting controls the types of content the child may access; it does not change the child’s birthday or age-check status.
- Sign in to the linked parent account.
- Open Settings > Parental Controls, then select the child’s account.
- Open Settings you Manage > Content restrictions > Content maturity.
- Choose the appropriate maturity level. Roblox displays a short description beneath the selected level.
Roblox documents separate controls for allowing or blocking particular games, so changing maturity may not remove a game-specific block. See Roblox’s Parental Controls Overview and Parental Controls FAQ.

Correct an inaccurate birthday
If the date of birth on the account is wrong, use Roblox’s account correction flow rather than entering a false birthday to get access:
- Open Settings > Account Info.
- Select the pencil icon beside the birthday, enter the correct date, and follow the on-screen prompts.
Roblox may require government-issued ID verification for users aged 13 or older, or parental consent, depending on the change. A parent can also manage a child’s birthday through linked parental controls, but Roblox limits that parent-side change to one update. It is unavailable if the child has already verified age with a government ID, and regional rules may add requirements. Understand age checks and mistaken results
Roblox uses age checks to determine access to some games and features. Its documented methods include facial age estimation and ID verification; ID verification is available only to users aged 13 and older. Regional consent requirements may apply to facial estimation.
If an age check mistakenly placed the account in an 18+ age group, Roblox documents a one-time reset of age-checked status through Settings > Account Info. If the estimated age seems wrong, Roblox also describes verifying the birthday through the account flow. The options depend on the account’s current age and verification history. Why some restrictions cannot be turned off
Roblox’s Restricted Content Policy says: “Both creators that develop this content and people who engage with it have to be 18 or older and age checked to access this category.” That is an eligibility requirement, not a parental setting. A maturity-level change or birthday edit cannot make someone eligible if they do not meet the requirement.
Access to games and features can also depend on account settings and region, so a successful change to one control does not guarantee access to every experience. See Roblox’s Restricted Content Policy.
