The steps depend on your platform. On PlayStation, Minecraft has a specific Unlink Microsoft account option. On Nintendo Switch and mobile, the documented option is to sign out; that is not the same as removing a PlayStation Network link. Xbox and the Minecraft Launcher use their own sign-out controls.
Before you unlink or sign out
Check which account you want to keep using and what access depends on the current connection. The effects differ by platform:

- PlayStation: Minecraft Store purchases and unused Tokens bought on the PlayStation account remain on that account. Other Minecraft games on that PlayStation, including Dungeons and Legends, are also unlinked from the PSN account. Without signing into another Microsoft account, you will lose access through the connection to Microsoft-account benefits such as Marketplace purchases made on other platforms, cross-platform play and Realms. Minecraft Help: unlink a Microsoft account on PlayStation.
- Nintendo Switch: Unspent Minecoins and Marketplace purchases made on the Nintendo account stay with that account. Signing out affects Minecraft games on that Nintendo console that used the Microsoft account, and you will not have cross-platform play or Realms while signed out. Purchases made on Switch are not available on other platforms. Minecraft Help: sign out on Nintendo Switch.
Minecraft Help says one Microsoft account can be linked to a PlayStation Network account. If you are trying to switch accounts on PlayStation, identify the Microsoft account currently associated with your PSN account before proceeding. Unlink a Microsoft account on PlayStation
- Open Minecraft on PlayStation.
- On the home screen, select Settings.
- Open the Account tab.
- Select Unlink Microsoft account.
- Confirm that you want to unlink the account, then select Unlink.
If you cannot access the Microsoft account, Minecraft Help advises recovering access through Microsoft account support first, then following the in-game steps. If a sign-in error displays an unlink option, the PlayStation troubleshooting guide also describes using it there. Unlink instructions · PlayStation sign-in troubleshooting.

Sign out or reset sign-in on other platforms
- Minecraft Launcher: Open the account dropdown and log out.
- Xbox: Use the Xbox guide to sign out of the Xbox profile.
- PlayStation, Switch or mobile: In Minecraft, go to Settings > Account > Sign out of your Microsoft Account.
After signing out, use the sign-in flow to log in again; where the platform offers a choice, select the account you intend to use. These are sign-out or authentication-reset steps, not a general unlink instruction. Minecraft Help: sign out and sign back in.

Resolve a PlayStation account-link error
Minecraft Help identifies two common causes: the PSN account is still connected to a different Microsoft account than the one entered, or the Microsoft account is already linked to another PSN account. Read the exact error before trying again.
- If the message indicates a Microsoft account was previously associated with the gamertag, try signing in with that account.
- If the error offers Unlink Microsoft account, use that option only after considering the effect on Marketplace access.
- If the Microsoft account is already connected to another PSN account, use the PSN account already associated with it rather than assuming it can be linked to a second one.
The troubleshooting guidance warns that unlinking can make Marketplace purchases associated with the Microsoft account unavailable through the PSN connection. Minecraft Help: PlayStation sign-in errors.
