WeMod does not officially support Steam Deck. A community guide describes an unofficial workaround, but WeMod says it cannot support that method, and using Proton to run non-Steam software does not guarantee WeMod will work with a particular game. If you want to try it, start with the current guide linked in WeMod’s Steam Deck discussion and treat its steps as community-maintained, game-dependent instructions.
Is WeMod supported on Steam Deck?
No. In a WeMod Community reply dated September 16, 2025, representative Ravenfyre wrote, “At the moment, WeMod does not officially support the Steam Deck.” The same response points readers to an unofficial community guide and says WeMod cannot support that method: WeMod Community: Steam Deck App — Suggestions.
WeMod had also said in a February 27, 2025 response that it would like to support Steam Deck (Linux), but lacked the capacity to do so at that time: WeMod Community: Steam deck support. These statements do not establish an officially supported installation procedure.
How to try the community workaround
For the current community-maintained instructions, open the Steam Deck discussion linked above and follow the unofficial guide it links to. Community posts describe adding non-Steam entries and configuring software for individual games, but the method can depend on the game and its configuration: WeMod Community: WeMod on Steam Deck.

- Switch to Desktop Mode if the current guide requires downloading or configuring software. This is a practical starting point, not a WeMod-supported installation step.
- Use the current linked guide rather than copying old commands. Community instructions can become outdated as SteamOS, Proton, or WeMod changes; older posts are not verified current procedures.
- Check any game-specific configuration carefully. A setup may use a separate WeMod prefix or the game’s prefix, and instructions for one game or Proton version may not apply to another.
- Test expectations conservatively. A successful launch of a non-Steam app does not demonstrate that WeMod can attach to a game or that its features will work.

Valve says Steam Deck can run non-Steam games through Proton: Steam Deck FAQ. That is a platform capability, not a compatibility guarantee for WeMod or a promise that a trainer will connect to a given game.

For a Steam game, Valve documents the compatibility-tool setting at Library → select the game → Properties → Compatibility, where you can select a compatibility tool: Steam Deck — Software Info & Troubleshooting Guide. This changes the game’s compatibility configuration; it does not provide a WeMod fix or ensure that WeMod will attach successfully.

What to do if it fails
- Check that the guide is current and applies to the particular game and configuration you are using.
- Do not assume another game’s prefix, Proton version, or launch setup will work for yours.
- If the problem is a WeMod account or subscription issue, contact WeMod through its support channels; a billing or account question is separate from Linux compatibility.
- For a failure specific to the unofficial Steam Deck method, recognize that WeMod has said it cannot support that approach.
