To visit a Treasure Island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, find a host whose island is open, get that host’s current Dodo Code, then fly online from your airport using Dodo Airlines. You’ll need an internet connection and an active Nintendo Switch Online membership. “Treasure Island” is a community term for islands where hosts invite players to collect items, not an official Nintendo feature.
What you need before you fly
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Nintendo Switch or the applicable Switch 2 Edition.
- An internet connection and an active Nintendo Switch Online membership. Nintendo states that “A Nintendo Switch Online membership and Internet connection are required to play online.” See Nintendo Support’s online multiplayer instructions and its Nintendo Switch Online information.
- A Dodo Code from a host who is currently accepting visitors.
How to find a Treasure Island that is open
Treasure Islands are arranged by individual community hosts. Livestreams and related community channels are common places to look for a host’s current code and visitor rules. A stream promoting an island is only an example of a discovery route, not an endorsement or a guarantee that its gate is still open. Check the host’s latest instructions before travelling.
Before choosing an island, check whether its gate is open now, whether the items you want are available, what visitor and etiquette rules apply, and whether the host requires a subscription or community membership. These terms are set by each host; paid access is not a universal requirement. Check any edition-specific instructions from the host as well.
How to use a Dodo Code
- Go to the airport on your island and speak with Orville.
- Choose to fly, then select online play.
- Choose the option to search using a Dodo Code and enter the current code provided by the host.
- Follow the airport prompts to travel to the island.
Nintendo documents this route through Dodo Airlines for online visits; its instructions cover multiplayer details for Switch and Switch 2 Edition. The host controls access by opening or closing the gate.
#1 Best Overall
- Build your community from scratch on a deserted island brimming with possibility; Create your personal getaway and customize your character, home, decorations, and even the landscape itself
- Collect materials to construct everything from furniture to tools. Then, use what you create to give your island a personal touch
- Watch as the time of day and seasons match real life—even your hemisphere. Each day holds potential for surprises and discoveries
- Get to know the island residents, garden, fish, decorate, hunt for fossils, and more.
- Show off your paradise – play on the same system with a total of 4 people, or play together online or over local wireless for fun with up to 8 players
If the Dodo Code does not work
A code is tied to the host’s active session, so it may stop working when the host closes the gate or ends the session. Check the host’s current listing for an updated code, confirm that you entered it correctly, or try another island that is open. Visitors arriving or leaving can also interrupt a session, so wait and follow any instructions the host provides.

Nintendo officially supports online island visits through Dodo Airlines and Dodo Codes, but “Treasure Island” is community terminology. Community hosts and creators decide what is available, how visitors enter, and whether any membership or other conditions apply. Nintendo’s support information does not endorse particular islands, creators, inventories, or paid access arrangements.
