In Blue Prince, the Freezer can freeze your gold and gem accounts, preserve those totals for tomorrow, and hold objects behind ice. To thaw your accounts, enter the Furnace or Sauna. To thaw frozen objects in the room, use a Torch or Burning Glass; the Furnace can also warm the room over time.
What the Freezer freezes
Drafting the Freezer freezes your gold and gem totals for the rest of the day. The frozen counters are treated as zero for ordinary resource checks: you cannot spend those balances, and normal pickups or effects do not add to or subtract from them. Keys and dice are unaffected.

The Freezer’s Tomorrow effect can preserve the frozen balances through the daily reset. If your accounts are still frozen when you call it a day, your held gold and gems carry into the next day. After that carryover, the Freezer is removed from that day’s draft pool—even if the preserved balances were zero. These mechanics are described on the community-maintained Blue Prince Freezer page; they are not presented here as a first-party developer guide.
Choose what you want to unfreeze
“Unfreeze” refers to two separate things in this room: your gold and gem accounts, or the frozen objects and ice inside the Freezer. Use the method that matches your goal.

How to thaw your gold and gem accounts
- Draft the Freezer if you want to freeze your balances and potentially carry them into tomorrow.
- Enter the Furnace or Sauna when you want to use gold or gems again. This thaws the accounts; it does not necessarily melt every frozen object in the Freezer immediately.
- Avoid re-entering the Freezer if you want your accounts to stay thawed. Entering it while thawed refreezes them while the room remains cold enough.
- Keep the accounts frozen until day’s end if your aim is to carry the held balances into the next day.
How to thaw objects and ice inside the Freezer
Use a Torch or Burning Glass
Use either ignition item to thaw the Freezer’s ice. This can expose the frozen key and gems, melt the ice wall, and reveal the hidden chamber. The Torch and Burning Glass are interchangeable for this purpose.
Warm the room with the Furnace
Entering the Furnace also warms the Freezer. It does not need to be adjacent, although distance affects how long warming takes. The room can thaw over time, but warming the room is distinct from thawing your accounts: accounts can become usable before all of the Freezer’s objects have melted.

The personal cooler at the back is not thawed by ambient warming. Direct ignition can affect it. Detailed temperature thresholds and community-reported timing figures are not needed to use either method.

Thawing the Freezer’s objects is temporary. When you draft the room on a later day, its temperature and contents reset, so previously thawed items and the opened ice-hidden area do not remain thawed permanently.
