If Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is stuttering or crashing on your PC, start by checking the game’s system requirements, closing potentially conflicting background apps, ensuring the PC has clear ventilation, and installing the graphics driver Activision recommends for your GPU. If the problem continues, check Activision’s current Known Issues tracker and report an unlisted bug; submit a PC crash report if the game crashes.
First, identify what is going wrong
Note when the problem occurs: at launch, while loading, in menus, during a public Multiplayer match, or after a game update. Also distinguish a crash to desktop from a freeze, low frame rate, or network lag. These symptoms can have different causes, so change one setting or close one app at a time and check whether the result changes.
Activision says crashes commonly occur while launching or playing public Multiplayer matches. Its crash and freeze guidance recommends checking requirements, ventilation, background applications, and graphics drivers.
Check whether your PC meets the requirements
Compare your PC’s operating system, processor, memory, graphics card and video memory, and storage against Activision’s Black Ops 7 PC system requirements. The official requirements list minimum, recommended, and competitive/4K Ultra tiers. Activision describes the recommended tier as targeting 60 FPS in most situations at high settings; it is a target, not a guarantee for every PC or scene.

- Ready for Upgrades – Designed with tool-less access, easily swap out components, ensuring future-proof performance for years to come.
The recommended GPU options include an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT, or Intel Arc B580, and the requirements specify an SSD. These are part of a broader specification, not stand-alone guarantees against stuttering or crashes. Activision also cautions that laptop GPU names may not correspond directly to desktop equivalents, so check the exact installed model rather than assuming a similarly named mobile GPU performs or qualifies identically.
If your system is below the minimum requirements, the mismatch may be relevant; the official specifications do not identify a specific repair for an individual PC. Consider a hardware upgrade only if your existing components fall short of the tier you need, and weigh the full system, video memory, resolution, and frame-rate target. Buying an RTX 3060 or another GPU is not a general fix for crashes.

Close apps that can interfere
Close background software that may interact with the game, particularly overlays, input-remapping tools, and recording software. Activision Support warns that these applications may interfere with gameplay or disrupt startup “even if they’re not running when you boot or play the game.” If closing them does not help and the crashes persist, Activision says uninstalling such software may be worth trying.
Test one app or change at a time. That makes it easier to tell whether the symptom changes and avoids confusing a software conflict with a separate performance problem.

Check ventilation and graphics drivers
Make sure the PC can ventilate
Check that the computer’s vents are not obstructed and that it has unobstructed ventilation. Activision recommends checking ventilation, but its guidance does not prescribe a particular fan, cooler, or accessory. If the PC is overheating or unstable outside the game as well, the game-specific steps alone may not address the underlying problem.
Install the driver for your exact GPU
Use the driver Activision recommends for your graphics card and operating environment. Its PC video-card driver instructions list AMD 25.12.1, NVIDIA 591.59 for desktop and notebook GPUs, NVIDIA 582.08 for workstation GPUs, and Intel 32.0.101.8531. Driver listings can change, so check Activision’s current page before installing and match the driver to the exact GPU and system type.

These checks do not establish a universal fix: the cause may be a system below requirements, a software conflict, a ventilation problem, or a reproducible game defect. Activision’s Black Ops 7 support hub lists routes for crashes, performance, connection issues, requirements, and known issues, which can help direct a problem that does not fit the steps above.
