The developer documents different troubleshooting steps for those symptoms; it does not claim one universal fix.
Identify what kind of lag you are seeing
- Choppy or low frame rate: The picture stutters or runs unevenly, even if other players remain responsive. Start with the game’s graphics and frame-rate settings.
- Connection trouble: Actions arrive late, players rubber-band, or you cannot connect to a session. Start with the developer’s connection checks.
Jump Space is a co-op game for up to four players. The developer describes its multiplayer as peer-to-peer, using a server browser rather than dedicated servers or matchmaking. That is relevant context for a session problem, but it does not identify which player or network path is responsible for a particular instance of lag. Developer FAQ on Steam
Fix choppy frame rate
The developer’s known-issues and potential-workarounds page recommends these graphics-setting checks:
- In the game, disable VSync and enable the frame limiter.
- Check your graphics driver settings to make sure VSync is not being forced on there.
- If disabling VSync does not help, try enabling VSync in the game.
- If your driver is forcing DirectX 12, try adding
-force-d3d11to the game’s Steam launch options.
Change one setting at a time and check whether the stutter changes. The support page presents these as potential workarounds, not guaranteed fixes.

Troubleshoot connection problems
If the problem is delayed actions, rubber-banding, or trouble joining a session, the developer recommends synchronizing the PC’s clock and checking whether port 7777 is open for connections. Its exact instruction is: “Make sure your system clock is synchronized.” Official troubleshooting guidance
For the port check, use the network or firewall controls relevant to your setup; avoid changing unrelated router settings. The official guidance names port 7777, but does not establish that changing it will resolve every connection problem. The game’s peer-to-peer architecture may make the session’s network path relevant, but the available information does not diagnose any individual player’s connection.

Check whether your PC meets the published requirements
Steam’s listing specifies the following PC requirements and performance targets. These are published system specifications, not tests of your PC, network latency, or a promise of achieved frame rate. Jump Space on Steam

If your PC falls below the published minimum, frame-rate trouble may be more likely, but meeting the requirements does not establish that a multiplayer connection is healthy.

When the documented steps do not resolve it
The official support page describes potential workarounds and says the team is continuing to investigate issues; it does not establish that multiplayer lag has been universally resolved. If the problem persists, note whether it is frame stutter or connection trouble, along with when it happens and whether it affects one session or more. Use the game’s official support guidance or Steam game support for further help.
A wired Ethernet connection can be used as a limited diagnostic comparison if you currently play over unstable Wi-Fi. Neither the Steam requirements nor the developer’s multiplayer description says buying a cable fixes Jump Space lag, so treat this only as a way to compare your connection—not as a guaranteed remedy.
