Kona II: Brume is a single-player mystery adventure set in 1970s Northern Québec, where detective Carl Faubert investigates a village caught in a supernatural fog. It blends exploration and clue-finding with survival elements, and is available on Windows, SteamOS/Linux, and Nintendo Switch. This guide explains what the game offers and what to check before playing.
What is Kona II: Brume about?
Developed by Parabole and published by Ravenscourt, Kona II: Brume was released on October 18, 2023. The story takes place in fictional Manastan, Northern Québec, in 1970. Detective Carl Faubert explores the aftermath of an avalanche as a mysterious mist called the Brume distorts the area and endangers its stranded survivors.
Steam describes the setup as: “Northern Québec, 1970: A mining village is enveloped in a distorted reality by a mysterious mist—the Brume.” Steam store page
What do you do in the game?
The game’s official descriptions emphasize four connected activities: exploring the snowy setting, investigating clues, managing threats to survival, and learning the story through objects and documents.

- Uncover the narrative: Inspect objects and documents to piece together what happened.
That mix makes it a mystery adventure with survival pressure, rather than a game presented solely as a combat-focused survival experience. The official descriptions establish the intended ingredients, but they do not provide an independent assessment of how challenging, readable, or well-paced those systems feel in play.
Do you need to play Kona first?
The developer and publisher describe Kona II: Brume as a continuation that “starts where its predecessor left off.” Their announcement also says it was “carefully made to please fans of Kona as well as newcomers.” That is the creators’ positioning, not proof that the sequel is fully understandable without the first game. If continuity matters to you, playing Kona first is the safer choice; if you are new, expect the sequel to continue an existing story. Official Kona announcement
