What is the story and setting?
Steam’s description introduces Enar, a humble shepherd whose life changes when Mirah, a jinn prisoner, escapes. The two travel through a fantasy realm where humans and jinn are in conflict, seeking to restore balance and uncover Enar’s fate. Ruins, creatures and a larger human-jinn struggle shape the adventure. This is the game’s fictional story, not a historical account.

Is Sheba: A New Dawn based on Middle Eastern heritage?
Kashkool says the game draws on Arabic and Middle Eastern stories and heritage. In its launch announcement, co-founder and CEO Omran Almansoori said: “Growing up, we never saw game characters or stories that authentically represented our country’s people and culture.” That statement explains the studio’s motivation; it is not, by itself, an independent assessment of how authentically the finished game represents the region.
In a GamesBeat interview, the developers described inspiration from the ancient civilization of Sheba and their conception of jinn. That is the creators’ account of their influences; it should not be treated as a substitute for independent historical or religious context.
How does the gameplay work?
The game follows the interconnected-world structure associated with Metroidvanias: players explore linked areas, encounter puzzles and secret spaces, and collect rewards as they progress. Steam describes weapons and abilities, gems, power-ups, RPG-style character attributes and level-ups, with options to shape a fighting style.
Kashkool’s launch materials advertise “45+ combo skills” and “67+ unique Jinn, monsters, and bosses.” The studio also lists elemental finishers and semi-tactical combat. These are developer-provided feature counts and descriptions, not independently measured totals.
