Riot’s published guidance reviewed here does not say that stretched resolution itself is bannable in VALORANT. But Riot also does not specifically approve every method used to create it, so that is not a guarantee that every setting or third-party tool is safe.
What Riot’s rules say about stretched resolution
Riot’s July 14, 2026 VALORANT fair-play article discusses account sharing, account purchasing or borrowing, intentional rank manipulation, boosting, win-trading, and using opponents’ streams to gain an advantage. It does not mention “stretch res” or define stretched resolution.
Riot says in that article: “nothing has changed about our policies around how you can play VALORANT– we’ve just upgraded our tooling and want to refresh everyone’s memories.” That statement concerns Riot’s fair-play policies; it is not a specific ruling about resolution settings.
Why the method matters
Riot’s 2023 anti-cheat update and anti-cheat explainer describe Vanguard’s role in preventing, detecting, and removing cheats, including software and other forms of tampering. They do not classify GPU scaling, custom display modes, or stretched aspect ratios.
#1 Best Overall
- 【INTEGRATED SPEAKERS】Whether you're at work or in the midst of an intense gaming session, our built-in speakers provide rich and seamless audio, all while keeping your desk clutter-free.
- 【EASY ON THE EYES】 Protect your eyes and enhance your comfort with Blue-Light Shift technology. This feature reduces harmful blue light emissions from your screen, helping to alleviate eye strain during long hours of use and promoting healthier viewing habits.
- 【WIDEN YOUR PERSPECTIVE】Our sleek minimal bezel design ensures undivided attention. The nearly bezel-free display seamlessly connects in a dual monitor arrangement, delivering an unobstructed view that lets you focus on more at once, completely distraction-free.
That leaves an important distinction: ordinary display configuration is not specifically identified in these sources as a violation, while third-party software that modifies or automates gameplay deserves caution. The sources do not classify particular tools, so neither category amounts to a blanket Riot approval or ban ruling.
What to do if you want a ruling on a specific setup
- Check how the resolution is applied. A display or GPU setting is different from a third-party utility that interacts with the game; Riot’s published material reviewed here does not give a definitive classification for either specific setup.
- Be cautious with third-party tools. Avoid tools that modify or automate gameplay, and do not assume a tool is permitted simply because it is used to change resolution.
- Ask Riot Support about the exact tool. If you need a decision for a particular utility or configuration, provide its name and how it works rather than relying on a general claim about “stretch res.”
What is not established
The cited Riot sources do not provide a resolution-specific ban statement, a list of approved stretched-resolution methods, or statistics on bans for using stretched resolution. They therefore support neither the claim that all stretched resolution is safe nor the claim that it is categorically bannable.
