Hollow Knight: Silksong has a strong case as a standout action-platform adventure: it pairs demanding combat and platforming with exploration, quests, and a large roster of enemies and bosses. But “10/10” is a judgment, not a universal verdict. Storefront ratings are notably positive, while at least one critic’s review highlights how challenging the game can be. Whether it feels like a masterpiece depends in part on how much difficulty you want from an adventure.
What makes Silksong a compelling adventure?
Team Cherry’s game follows Hornet through Pharloom, a kingdom the publisher describes as ruled by silk and song. Its Steam listing presents a mix of exploration, quests, combat, and craftable tools, with more than 200 foes and more than 40 bosses. Those counts are publisher-described content, not independently verified totals.
The appeal is in that combination: exploration gives the journey room to unfold, while combat and platforming keep movement and encounters central. Quests and tools add ways to engage with the world beyond simply advancing from one fight to the next. For players who enjoy learning enemy patterns and overcoming demanding obstacles, that mix gives the adventure a clear identity.
Does the reception support the “10/10” claim?
It supports a picture of strong player approval, but not a universal score. Steam’s English-language reviews were marked “Very Positive” when accessed October 8, 2026, with 93% positive from 146,292 reviews. Steam’s recent reviews were also “Very Positive,” at 91% positive from 3,370 reviews. These are changing user-review snapshots, not critic scores or proof that every fan agrees. Steam’s listing displays the current figures.

The US PlayStation Store showed 4.64 out of five from 50,759 player ratings on October 8, 2026. That is another positive but time-sensitive player snapshot, not a fixed review aggregate. PlayStation Store listing
Taken together, these ratings make it reasonable to say that many players are responding enthusiastically. They do not measure what all fans expected, and they cannot settle whether the game deserves a perfect score for an individual player.

Is the difficulty part of the appeal—or a drawback?
Difficulty is a meaningful dividing line. PC Gamer’s Tyler Colp reviewed the game on September 13, 2025; the review describes challenging combat and platforming and gives the context of more than 25 hours played. That is one critic’s experience, not a survey of players, but it makes clear why praise for the game can coexist with frustration for some people.
If you enjoy a game that asks you to improve through repeated attempts, challenging encounters may be central to Silksong’s appeal. If you prefer a more forgiving pace, the same demand can weigh against it. The available reception figures do not tell you how any particular player will respond to that trade-off.

Who developed it, and where can you play?
Steam lists Team Cherry as both developer and publisher, with a September 4, 2025 release date; the Xbox Store lists the same date. Team Cherry says the game is being developed in Adelaide, South Australia, by a three-person team. Team Cherry’s official site also credits Christopher Larkin as composer.
The cited storefront listings cover Steam for PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Steam lists Windows, macOS, and Linux system requirements. A physical-edition report also names Nintendo Switch 2, but availability and regional details should be checked with local retailers.

For players drawn to intricate exploration, substantial combat, and a difficult platforming challenge, Silksong has the ingredients to feel like an exceptional adventure. Its storefront ratings show broad enthusiasm among the users who rated it, but “the fans” are not a single audience with one measured expectation—and a perfect score is personal. The fairest answer is that it is widely well received and has a strong case for masterpiece status, especially for players who welcome its challenge.
