The game stopped accepting in-app purchases and was removed from app stores starting January 3, 2024; players who already had it installed could continue until April 8. EA lists April 8, 2024 as the date its online service shut down.
When did Kim Kardashian: Hollywood shut down?
The shutdown happened in stages. Glu Mobile’s sunset notice set January 3, 2024 as the start of the wind-down and April 8 as the last day of access. EA’s online-services list also records April 8, 2024 as the shutdown date.
| Date | What changed |
|---|---|
| January 3, 2024 | In-app purchases stopped and the game was removed from app stores, so new downloads were no longer available. Players with the game already installed could keep playing and use existing virtual currency through April 8. (Glu Mobile Help Center) |
| February 28, 2024 | EA Entertainment and Technology President Laura Miele publicly included the game among mobile titles being sunset. (Electronic Arts) |
| April 8, 2024 | The game became inaccessible. EA’s service-shutdown list records the Apple, Google and Amazon service shutdown for that date. (Electronic Arts) |
Can you still play it?
No. The sunset notice said the game would become inaccessible to all players after April 8, 2024. An installed copy, an old device or a restored backup does not restore access after the service closure. The game is no longer available to download from the app stores named in EA’s shutdown listing.
Why did EA shut the game down?
EA’s stated explanation was a portfolio decision, not a title-specific diagnosis. In a February 28, 2024 statement, Miele said EA was sunsetting Kim Kardashian: Hollywood alongside other mobile games as it focused on remaining titles it believed could grow. The statement does not identify a specific reason such as licensing, server costs, player numbers or profitability for this game.
