Spectre Divide Season 1, Flashpoint, launched on February 25, 2025, alongside the game’s PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. The update added a map, sponsor kit and Battle Pass, but the online game later shut down on April 17, 2025.
When did Spectre Divide Season 1 launch?
Mountaintop Studios released Season 1, titled Flashpoint, on February 25, 2025. The studio described it as a major update shaped by feedback after the game’s initial PC launch. What did Flashpoint add?
Canal, Monark Tactical and a Battle Pass
Flashpoint introduced the Canal map, a new Monark Tactical sponsor kit and an all-new Battle Pass. The launch announcement also said the update added a Career tab with match history.
Movement and weapon buying changes
The update added sprinting and revised movement. Mountaintop said the changes were intended to make movement more responsive. Buy Menu 2.0 let players create weapon pairs; those descriptions are the studio’s account of the update, not an independent gameplay assessment.

Did Spectre Divide launch on PS5 and Xbox?
Yes. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions became available free to play on February 25, 2025, the same day as Flashpoint. The launch notes announced crossplay for console players, while saying PC-to-console crossplay was still being explored for the future. Why did Spectre Divide shut down?
In a March 12, 2025 letter, Mountaintop Studios said it had run out of funding to support the game and would close. The studio said Flashpoint had not generated enough ongoing activity and revenue to cover its day-to-day costs. It also said efforts to find a publisher, additional investment or an acquirer had not succeeded. Mountaintop reported approximately 400,000 players in the first week and a peak concurrent player count of approximately 10,000 across all platforms. Those are the studio’s approximate figures, not independently verified measurements. The letter said, “Unfortunately, the Season 1 launch hasn’t achieved the level of success we needed to sustain the game and keep Mountaintop afloat.”

No. Although the March letter initially expected the game to go offline within 30 days, a later official notice set the final shutdown for April 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM PT. The Spectre Divide team’s notice said: “Spectre Divide servers will shut down on April 17th, 2025, at 12:00PM PT.” With its servers offline, Spectre Divide is a discontinued online game rather than a currently playable release.
