- Reach Nokron, Eternal City. The route opens after defeating Starscourge Radahn, as described in the Elden Ring Wiki’s Mimic Tear overview.
- Continue through Nokron to Night’s Sacred Ground.
- Use a Stonesword Key on the imp statue sealing the room, then open the chest inside to collect the Ashes.
Do not confuse this chest with the Mimic Tear boss fight: defeating the boss is not how you obtain the Ashes.
What Mimic Tear Ashes do and what they cost
Using the Ashes summons a spirit that takes the form of your character to fight alongside you. Its in-game description says: “This spirit takes the form of the summoner to fight alongside them, but its mimicry does not extend to imitating the summoner’s will.” In other words, it copies your form, but the description does not promise that it will make the same decisions you would.

Eldenpedia’s item reference lists the summon cost as 660 HP, not FP. Plan for that health cost before summoning, especially if you are entering a fight with little health remaining.
