MindsEye launched on June 10, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It is a story-driven action-adventure from Build A Rocket Boy—not a Grand Theft Auto game or an official successor. Its clearest connection to GTA is game director Leslie Benzies, whom launch coverage described as a former Grand Theft Auto producer.
When did MindsEye come out?
MindsEye was released on June 10, 2025. The launch covered PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. PlayStation’s store listing confirms the PS5 release date; TechRadar’s launch announcement identifies the three platform families.

What is MindsEye about?
It is an action-adventure thriller built around a story campaign and additional playable content. Players follow Jacob Diaz, a former soldier with a mysterious neural implant and fractured memories. As he undertakes covert missions, he tries to recover those memories and uncover a conspiracy involving rogue AI, corporate greed, and military power. The official PlayStation game page describes the premise and campaign.
Is MindsEye made by former GTA developers?
The specific, documented connection is Leslie Benzies: launch coverage identifies him as MindsEye’s game director and a former Grand Theft Auto producer. That does not establish that the whole development team consists of former GTA developers, or that Rockstar made, endorsed, or is otherwise responsible for MindsEye. It is a separate game.

What changed after launch?
Publishing responsibility
Build A Rocket Boy announced that its publishing collaboration with IOI Partners ended effective March 16, 2026, and that Build A Rocket Boy took over sole publishing responsibilities. The same announcement said the planned Hitman crossover mission would not be released. See the studio’s publishing transition announcement.
Updates and support
Build A Rocket Boy’s Update 6.1 notes document adjustments to AI and pathfinding, mission changes, audio and animation improvements, collision and performance fixes, and new Arcadia missions. The notes say the update was available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Although the post calls it the final update of 2025 and anticipated updates in early 2026, the page was updated May 8, 2026; that earlier forward-looking wording does not establish the present update roadmap.

Studio status
On September 16, 2026, PC Gamer reported that multiple employees had posted about being made redundant and that an HR employee suggested they would help “wrap things up.” The report also said Build A Rocket Boy had not publicly confirmed a shutdown. It is therefore not accurate to describe the studio’s closure as confirmed on the basis of that report. Current studio operations and game support may change.
Where can you play MindsEye?
The documented launch platforms are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. PlayStation’s current listing identifies a PS5 edition and a two-hour PlayStation Plus Premium trial; store availability, pricing, and trial eligibility can change. Check the relevant store for current edition and access details.

How has MindsEye been received?
Reception figures vary by platform and can change over time. Metacritic maintains critic-review pages for the game, while Steam user reviews are a separate measure; neither should be treated as a sales figure or a single universal rating. Check the platform and date alongside any score you consult: the Steam result available in the cited snapshot showed 1,624 English user reviews and 54% positive, but that is a time-bound snapshot, not a current score.
