Build A Rocket Boy’s Chief Legal Officer Riley Graebner and Chief Financial Officer Paul Bland were reported to have left the studio shortly before MindsEye launched on June 10, 2025. Reports published June 3 and 4 confirmed the departures, but did not establish why either executive left or whether the moves were connected to the game’s release.
Which executives left Build A Rocket Boy?
- Riley Graebner, the studio’s Chief Legal Officer, publicly described his departure.
- Paul Bland, its Chief Financial Officer, was also reported to have left; PC Gamer cited his LinkedIn profile as indicating he had parted ways with the company in June.
Insider Gaming reported both departures on June 3, 2025. PC Gamer reported Graebner’s announcement the same day and noted it had contacted Build A Rocket Boy for comment. Game Developer also reported that both executives had departed on June 4.

When did they leave, and when did MindsEye launch?
The reports placed the departures roughly a week before MindsEye’s June 10, 2025 release. Build A Rocket Boy and IOI Partners had announced that date for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Steam’s listing gives June 10, 2025, as the release date and identifies Build A Rocket Boy as the developer and publisher.
Did Graebner or Bland explain why they left?
The reports do not give a reason for either departure, and do not establish that the exits were caused by, or connected to, the impending launch. Graebner’s public statement reflected on his tenure rather than explaining a motive. He wrote, “After three and a half years my time at BARB has come to a close,” and said, “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished.”

Graebner also said the company had more than doubled to over 450 employees during his time there, and highlighted building its legal team and legal operations infrastructure. That figure is his account of the company’s growth, not an independently verified headcount for a particular date. Game Developer quoted him thanking colleagues, while noting he feared forgetting essential names.
What did Build A Rocket Boy’s co-CEO say about criticism?
Game Developer reported that co-CEO Mark Gerhard responded “100%” when a user in the MindsEye Discord asked whether negative reactions to the game were financed. Gerhard then alleged there was a “concerted effort to trash the game and the studio.” PC Gamer also described an allegation involving an unnamed entity. These are Gerhard’s claims as reported by the outlets; the cited reporting does not verify that a financed campaign existed or establish a connection between the allegation and the executives’ departures.

Who publishes MindsEye now?
The original June 2025 launch announcement was made by Build A Rocket Boy and IOI Partners. Their publishing collaboration ended effective March 16, 2026, according to a joint announcement dated March 17. Build A Rocket Boy said it would take over sole publishing responsibilities. The announcement also said the previously announced Hitman mission would no longer be released.
